New guy from Texas

Well, I'm making my move from the Camaro6 forums to here. My Camaro sat far too much as I always need to haul people or things, we decided it didn't make sense for it to sit, and traded it on a 2017 Silverado CCSB LT 4x4. I'll miss the SS, but honestly I'm sure I will bond a lot more with this truck as I'll be able to drive and enjoy it much more. I've had several GMT800s, LS powered cars, and still have my GMT400 2 door Yukon GT 5 speed 4x4, so I am well familiar with GM vehicles. I would still love to have another Duramax, but a 4x4 with the 5.3 is overkill as it is for what I need.

So far I love the truck, but you can tell once the new trucks went drive by wire, they tuned throttle response to be much more docile than I am used to with drive by cable. I am guessing that is due to torque management and throttle tuning to keep normal folks from frying the tires all the time on these trucks? It's easy enough to coax it and laid back enough I don't worry about other people driving the truck, but one thing it will need immediately, is a louder exhaust system. I'm blown away by how quiet they got these trucks. A muffler delete or MBRP cat back would work well I'd imagine.

Here is the truck, the perfect color and configuration IMO

Welcome to Ye Merrye Crewwe! These trucks are astonishingly quiet. Even my wife was very surprised when we drove ours home the first day. Does yours have the noise cancellation system?

Thanks! And not so far as I know, my truck is a fairly basic LT model. But I was used to my 2016 SS with dual mode exhaust which was much louder stock. I also have several other LS and V8 vehicles, the Silverado is by far the quietest, but I noticed it has 3 cats, a muffler, and a resonator. The resonator, or straight through muffler as it really is, is generally all I ever use on vehicles anymore. None of my cars or trucks have box/chamber style mufflers, especially not both! I figure a muffler delete leaving the resonator will be just right.

Looking under the hood, everything is shrouded to muffle any sound from the engine (or exhaust hence the resonator) and there is sound proofing in the cab with double door seals. No wonder it's so quiet. In mine, the A/C fan is blowing a hurricane then it suddenly gets much quieter but the same volume of air is coming out of the vents, so I guess it has noise suppression. The radio is unaffected, though. This is much quieter than any truck I have ever used or owned.

Definitely the quietest I've ever owned. I'm a driver and a tinkerer so I like to be able to hear the exhaust just a bit at least, you can hear when the motor isn't happy, hear the shifts, etc, but my family loves how quiet it is. I will soon have to disappoint them. The AC is super quiet as well, I always find myself turning it up because it sounds too low, and then I freeze myself out. Not a bad problem to have for certain. The transmission seems to be coming around to learning how I drive as well, as far as I can tell it is going to be a great truck, and they are by far the best looking trucks on the market right now.
