Issues after installing CAI

I installed the airaid 200-285 CAI on my 14 Silveradoo z71 this past weekend and have noticed the truck running a bit funny since. First thing is the truck seems to be a bit sluggish, especially after moving from a stop, or letting off cruise control and hitting the throttle again. It seems to get caught in making a louder than normal "BURRR" sound when barely hitting the throttle during city driving/stop and go. Usually if it I really press down on the throttle it works through this. The biggest thing I noticed today though was how loud my fans were running. I started her up this morning and the fans were kicking hard, they ran like this for my whole hour drive to work.

Some of my guesses as to what could be wrong include a dirty MAF sensor, either from previous use, or possibly from the filter not being oiled enough. The company I bought it from said it SHOULD have a light oil coating on it when it comes. But I think it could be underoiled or not oiled at all, it was hard to tell when I installed if it was oiled at all. Or maybe there is a leak somewhere which is causing this. This was one of the first mods I've done on my own so it is very possible I did not install something correctly.

Any help/suggestions on what to do would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I second the motion..

MAF sensors do not like any oil residue or dirt..

Recommend cleaning with MAF spray and replace "Wet" filter with "Dry" type..

You may need to clean pipe from sensor to TB just in case oil particals were left in runner..

Also,, check TB for oil...

Too much oil possibly trashed MAF?

BTW already has CAI paper filter w/o oil FTW.

It is posssible, however like I stated before I did not oil it at all, and it did not feel oily when I received it. I feel like if it was over oiled you would be able to feel some oil somewhere on the thing. This thing felt like it was not oiled at all.

Thanks. I will try to clean the MAF today and check around for oil.

Just because you didn't feel or see oil doesn't mean it still wasn't over oiled from the factory. They do try to get them out ASAP so mistakes can happen. I had a K&N intake kit on my '98 and the MAF sensor did need to be replaced, but it was years and years after installing the K&N so I don't think that was the reason. I honestly don't know if I would get another intake kit, or at least one with either an oiled or dry filter. Especially with these new trucks with all of the sensors and electronics. A dry filter makes me believe that it's not filtering as good as it should since it apparently gives the same performance as an oiled filter without the oil. So the only way I can figure it does that being dry is that it has bigger openings for dust and whatever else get through.

When I had my '14 all I did was get the Airiad MIT, so all it did was replace that big ass intake with a single tube and it allowed me to keep the factory filter box and filter. Plus it helped that it was half the price of a full intake kit.

The K2s already have that problem of the engine oil going through the intake so you either buy an oil catch can or deal with the problem through out the life of the truck. So why possibly add more oil from the aftermarket oiled filter.

Would the truck not throw a code if it was a MAF issue? They say to disconnect battery before you pull the MAF to avoid CEL. My 07 Dmax at work did that after a new oiled filter. I hit the MAF with SensorKleen, cleared code and she was happy.
