2017 Sierra Denali ultimate problems?

Well I decided to take the plunge last night. It's perfect as far as vibrations go up to 70mph (that's as fast as I've had it) and it's huge improvement over my 2014 in terms of fit, finish, and general quality. In my opinion this truck is just as nice as my Yukon Denali. Thanks for all the answers guys! I took a quick video walk around of it for those of you that care.

It doesn't. I've only put 200 miles on it thus far though, so only time will tell.

I've had my Sierra Denali Ultimate 1500 since July 2017.  My previous pickup was a 2012 Toyota Tundra Platinum CrewMax and it had zero issues.  I had a 2007 Tundra prior to that with zero complaints other than fuel mileage, both equipped with the 5.7-V8 engine.  I've logged about 8K miles and the clunky transmission is my only complaint and a very minor one at that.  I've experienced it maybe 6 - 7 times and that was mostly in the first 4 months of ownership.  It's happened, maybe, twice in the last couple of months.  My understanding is that it's a gear-searching algorithm and it's constantly "learning".  Other than that, it's very powerful, rides smoothly, and I'm getting roughly 14/22mpg (manually calculated, fill-up to fill-up).  I have to admit, I was wanting another Tundra but didn't want to wait until 2020 for the completely redesigned model.  When I set foot on the GMC lot I had every intention to purchase a Denali 2500HD (Duramax), until I drove one.  The rough ride cured me of that thought.  I opted for the Denali 1500 truck as an interim work truck, but I've been completely satisfied with my GMC choice.  If GMC can improve on this model, I'll more than likely be purchasing another Sierra Denali in 2021 or 2022!

Thanks for the video, I like the light colored seats I had that in my 2016 but not this 2017. I bought this one in June 2017 currently at around 13,000 miles and averaging over 20 mpg on premium tier 1 fuel.  Only a couple of small issues so far.

1.Reprogram on rear view camera brightness at night TOO BRIGHT . (Fixed)

2. Transmission hard shift at slow speeds. (Reprogrammed) maybe just a little better but still there at times. Was an issue on the 16 also.

3. Drivers side Trifold step intermittently does not close after the drivers door is closed. Only closes after the truck is put into gear (failsafe force close)  Dealer ran out of time at last oil change appointment and did not check it. Hopefully a minor issue like a sensor or something.

I am excited to see the 2019 models when they come out, I think I might get a Black one with the light colored seats this time.......

When was your '17 built, do you know?  I'm trying to determine if mine needs the tranny reprogram before I ask the dealer if it does...... also, I'm in Mid-Tenn.......so did I buy from YOUR dealership?  (Waltrip's in Franklin?  ;) )

Build date of 02-09-2017   I bought the 17 truck at Laura GMC in Collinsville IL for an awesome discount deal. I gave several local dealerships a shot but they all just laughed when I told them where Laura was at on the OTD number.

One little thing that I forgot to add on my list is that the plastic dash trim piece has a couple of spots where it puckers up in cold weather. I had that piece replaced on the 2016.  Bad design on the trim piece, there are two areas where it is not fastened and it is really thin materials and sticks up above the dash pad,  just looks bad in a 64k sticker vehicle to me. Still it is overall one heck of an engineering feat to produce so many of these trucks (literal works of art) and have so few major problems. I would hate to calculate the costs for building a "one off" it would likely be well into the millions.  Here is a pic of the 16 trim piece 17 is the same now after all the recent cold weather.

Looks low.

Should be a full to this line when cold on the tank.

Dexcool is what you need or an equivalent.

Mine was doing that. I had to mark it with a line. Sure enough it was leaking top corner of the radiator due to the thermostat. Dealer replaced radiator, thermostat.

Did you ever have a Low Coolant Light come on? Starting to think my light on dash doesn’t work... 20d6562506798a8a4d31167452ffec91.jpg

Mine was still under 3year 36,000. But alot of people on here have had it covered under power train warranty. They have said it was due to thermostat cycling to much and caused radiator to fail. They have a new updated one now I guess. Mine has been fine since they did it a year or so ago.
