Reset Climate Control?

Did some searching, but not finding anything on this. Maybe I'm not using the right search terms.

Anyway, 2015 Silverado, about 25k miles. AC started blowing hot. Drove home and parked it. Figured it was the issue w/the AC lines I've read about over and over.

A couple hours later, I go to start it, and it acts like it has a weak battery. Drive to the store and back home. Turn it off and try to restart it... no go. Throw a battery tender on it overnight. Try it this morning and nothing.

Start thinking the dead battery may have something to do w/the AC not working. So I removed the negative cable and threw a 'fast charger' on the battery. Let that sit for about 30 mins. Reconnected the negative cable and she reluctantly started up.

Now my question is this... Would leaving the negative cable off for that 30 mins reset my climate controls? Or is there a procedure I need to follow? Could the dead battery be the reason why my AC is blowing hot?? I just find it weird that both would happen at the same time.

It's still under warranty, but with tomorrow being a holiday I thought maybe I'd look into it a bit since I can't get it to the dealership anyhow.

Thanks for any help you can give.

First, my advice is take it in to the dealer.

But if you need to work in it yourself, you'll need a set of AC gauges to know what's going on with the AC. Again, my advice is take it to the dealer.

And yes disconnecting battery will cause a reset of climate control. One method after reconnecting, key on, engine off. No touching of controls. Just let what happens happen for the next minute or so. The remove the key close driver door. (Generally signals a completed cycle to the truck/bcm.) The get in. Key on, engine start. See what happens over the next bit while driving

If the truck is under warranty, take it to the dealer to get the freebies. You screw with it, warranty will turn into CP, customer pay.

I don't like to see anybody getting screwed on their vehicles, especially when car dealers doing the repairs.

Always keep your receipts so you know what they did in the past. With my 2 vehicles, I have two 6 inch thick notebooks of everything that was every done or installed by myself. It's a "history folder".

Outside of warranty, ask the people of the forums what to do.

Don't confuse the service adviser and tech by trying to guess the problem.

Give them the symptoms to pass on to the tech and let them do their own diagnosis.

Nothing a tech hates more than someone they don't know/don't have experience with trying to tell them how to do their job.
