Backup lights are on all the time after installing camera

Bought a 14 Silverado LT a month ago and am in process of trying to add a back up camera since it did not come with it. 4.2 inch screen that will upgrade later. So....... ordered the handle and camera. Before radio was programmed when camera was plugged in the back up lights would be on as soon as you started truck. Stayed on no matter what gear it was in including park so unplugged it and no more back up lights on. Then plugged it in later before I had radio (mylink) programmed and camera works like it is supposed to but now problem with back up lights again so now have camera unplugged and lights back to normal. Any ideas? Camera is aftermarket. Thanks. Brian.

Check your power source for the camera. Are you sure that you have to camera power tied into reverse? It sounds like you may be tapped into the tail lights. Double check your connections and which wire(s) you should be tapped into.

Problem solved. Sent camera back and now have the Dorman. Works perfect. Was a cheap upgrade and now I can see what's behind me.
