Ok here is a DIY backup camera build. There's possibly two ways i purchased a OEM tailgate handle bezel($30-39). Also I have ordered (2) cameras: one is an E313 backup camera(12v) this camera has 170deg. Viewing angle and guide lines. Cost for that camera was $19.95 from Newegg.com but that price included 2.XX shipping upgrade. The second camera is an OEM backup camera from a Yukon/Tahoe(6v) which I also purchased a voltage reducer($12.95 shipped). The one thing that you can not find the mount for the camera. Im gonna try to include pictures also you will need to cut off the harness from the factory OEM camera and solder on an RCA plug.

UPDATE: so got the E313 Rear View Camera in today, tried out my custom fiberglass mount(dont laugh) was a quick build dont care if its show quality being as how you wont see it. but i put that recess on it and that was un-needed for this camera *may work for an OEM back up camera, so i set it off to the side took my cardbord template without the recess and made a single flat fiberglass plate to mount the camera too. Not bad holds the camera with some screws and double sided 3M tape. is almost a perfect match for the square hole but cornes show a nanometer of gap not bad for a over the counter $20 camera.

For the Non-OEM camera build here are the parts.

Camera:$16.95(includes video wire, power wire, and shipping at that price)

Mount:

Cardboard(Free)

Fiber Glass kit($19.99)(plenty left to build something else out of fiberglass)

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/accessories/3M-1-2-pint-Bondo-fiberglass-repair-kit/_/N-260o?itemIdentifier=167004_0_0_

Wire loom($9 for 50' whihc is MORE than enough)

http://www.amazon.com/SPLIT-LOOM-TUBING-50-FOOT-COIL/dp/B002045XWO

Tailgate Camera Bezel w/ Lock hole:(roughly $30 for item shipped)

GM P/N 25958228

http://www.partsgeek.com/catalog/2009/chevrolet/silverado_1500/body_mechanical_-ar-_trim/tailgate_handle_bezel.html

and if you want to go all out: you can buy wire loom to run you RCA wire up to the from our try to tuck it into a factory harness running down the frame and dont forget to drill the hole in the bottom of the tailgate and lip of the bottom of the bed(edge to run the wire) total cost will be between 70-80 with EVERYTHING for me (wire loom and groumets to run wires thru the body)(savings of $25 to $300) and it looks ALMOST factory camera sticks out just a 1/8 inch but doesnt look bad picture quality is amazing and the guide lines are a plus.

One last thing when i recieve the reducer and the OEM camera and get the RCA cable to solder to it and power plug in I will show that build. (now keep in mind that that build will be alittle more but will be closer to OEM except for harness which will be single yellow RCA and quick connect power wire rather than the OEM harness plug-in. Hope this helps.

P.S. Im not responsible if you do something wrong to you components or equipment this is merely a how to guide as to the method i did when building this systems for my father and my 07 & 09 Silverado 1500s. thank you.
