Cleaning Polished Aluminum Wheels

What is the best way / product for cleaning polished aluminum wheels? Meaning both general cleaning washing and polishing. How often do they need polished to keep looking shiny? I see various types of aluminum wheel cleaners but hesitant to use anything that may damage the finish or clear coat.

 

Just over the first of owning the truck I'm sensing they can take quite a bit of work to keep looking nice. Hoping to find the right product and method to keep up with them especially with winter coming.

This is what I use on my 2015i chrome aluminum wheels...I use a spray foam glass cleaner after I wipe

 

off most of the polish to get that streak free look. Use once or twice a year and when washing the truck

 

in between polish, I just use the spray foam to keep a shine on the wheels. Just use a soft cloth or

 

{What I use is... diapers} to polish the rims, NO 0000 steel wool is needed unless tons of brake dust

 

is still on the rims from a previous lazy owner that never wash their truck!

If they are the clearcoated polished (the 20" HD wheels are still like this, as are the base 20" on 1500), treat them no different than your paint. Waxes, sealants, etc. The best thing IMO is to take them off the truck that way you can coat the barrel for maximum protection.

My son takes the wheels of his vehicle every time he washes and puts a coat of wax in the barrel and on the spokes. Cleanest wheels on a vehicle out there. Pretty amazing to me, honestly.

Actually this is similar to what I was thinking, but maybe twice a year instead of every wash.
