Finally trimmed my front valance

Alright, digging up an old post that I've posted on before.  What did you guys use to cut?  I just lifted the truck 6.5" and have 35s on Moto Metal 18x10 -24 offset.  Only time I hit the valence is in reverse close to full lock. It seems too thick to use a razor or anything like that.  Any tips?

Although the cut's not so drastic and it is on a Tahoe valance, a Dremmel tool, hacksaw blades in rubber hose, surform grater, knife, masking tape, and sandpaper will get 'er done.

Worked for me.  Take your time.

I laid up two parallel strips of tape and cut between them as a guide.  Smoothed off the edges and was done.

I just took the lower piece off my valance today. After reading this thread thought I was going to have to cut it, but the '17 Silverado's have two piece valance's with about 10 screws.

I removed mine when I got my GMC but didn't like all the holes you can see as you approach the truck at a certain angle.  There is a natural crease leaving about 3/4" of valance, cutting off about 2" or so...perfect look.   Score that crease with a razor blade, then using two pairs of vice grips, pull the razor towards you like a draw knife.  Go slow.  Change the blade a couple of time.  Bam.  Done.  Don't worry about sanding or smoothing it.....you will never be able to tell how the edge is under the truck.

I had the truck for maybe four hours, and right after I took this picture I removed the lowest piece.

 

A week later, I leveled the truck out and replaced the stock tires. Here is a picture with the lower piece missing.

 

Few days later, I then removed the rest of the plastic. Flipped the bolts over, cut some low hanging metal brackets off and trimmed the wheel liner.
