Power fold mirror question

A question about the factory DQS power fold tow mirrors.  Can the mirrors fold manually without doing any damage to the motor mechanism that folds the mirror?

I would like to know this as well. The power folding mirrors on my ‘03 could be folded manually without issue. Not sure about my ‘17 though.

yes, you can manually fold them without damaging the motor.

Although, you may hear a popping noise when doing the power fold after manually folding them.

Yep.  You can manually fold/unfold them.  There are provisions for this in the event the motor fails and you need to unfold them.

There's also a sequence to perform if they get out of sync.  It's in the manual

On my 07, you just had to cycle the power fold mirrors a few times to get them back to normal.

My old job sold me some DL3's that had broken gears for the powerfold for $5.  Installed them and cycled them twice to get the gears back on track.  Gotta love it when the auction yards manually folded them in.  Lol.

One of the employees at the car manually folded my passenger side mirror and I was pissed. When I got out of the wash I cycled it with the power button and all was good.
