Steps get removed. The modules are mounted in a bracket on the driver side running board.

Since the Control circuit is the Low Speed GMLAN, there is no error that come up when removed. You will have open connectors though once connected so you’ll want to cover that from the elements and shorting something out. If you can remove the harnesses that goes between the driver and passenger, that’ll help the next person install it easier.

Xenawise is there any chance you are able to provide a link to where you pulled this image from? I am looking for part #7 and can not find it anywhere online or even a part number.

Here is a parts book blow-up of the system. Does not show all of the mounting points but #19 and #26 are the main bolts. #4 is the frame that all these bolts will go through.

Same question here... one of mine has started leaking and I am out of warranty.  I've been looking for part numbers, but can't seem to find them anywhere (online).  Anyone have a parts breakdown?

I have a 2017 GMC Sierra 1500 and I need to replace the motor on the driver side retractable assist step. The motor will run but the step will not swing out. I can move it manually so it appears that the gear drive mechanism inside the motor may be stripped. Does anyone know where I can purchase a replacement motor?

Easiest is go to your dealer parts counter and get a quote or part number for the motor. They can tell you if its even sold separately or if you have to buy an entire assembly. Once you get the part number, search online. My dealer surprised me a few times by having a better parts price vs GMpartsDirect, ShopChevyparts, etc. They always tack on a big shipping charge to their low advertised price.

I have removed my sliding running boards but the rod that comes out of the motor in the front. Is there anyway of removing that or pushing it up so it won’t show? The rod in the back I was able to push up so it can be hidden.

I have removed my sliding running boards. But I was seeing how I can remove the rod that the running board attached to from the motor. I was able to push the rod in the back up to hide it from viewing.

Hi,

I just want to remove the running board from the swing arms to lubricate the pin that swivels as they open. There is a bit and plate on tye bottom but how do you remove the pin. The step plate needs to come off or something

I recently purchased a 2018 denali ultimate that the previous owner took the steps off of. When I purchased the truck I was given the steps with it. I put them back on and they will not do anything. I've checked everything I can think of, the fuse, the connections, I have tried unplugging the battery, and also the button under the radio. Everything is plugged correctly and in there correct spots. Wondering if anyone else has any Idea besides bring it to the dealer. Thanks!
