Any must-do mods for the new Silverado?

Muffler/flapper delete - Should be about $60 if you have a good muffler shop. My personal opinion is that it sounds just as good as a catback for a fraction of the price.

Range device - $180ish. Keeps the truck in V8 mode and doesn't mess with the flash counter like a tune does for warranty concerns.

I removed everything and built a skid plate to fill the opening between the tow hooks. Truck has a 2” level and 285/65/18s

Tell me more of this muffler flapper delete. Can I just cut that section out and clamp a connector pipe there in its place? I like that if it’s that simple. How does it sound compared to a magnaflow cat back?

tomorrow the dealer installs Nitto RidgeGrapplers in 285/65r18 and a 2” lift in front and 1” rear.

next week the leather seats go in. I like that skid plate you fabbed up, that looks slick

For the range device... doesn’t tow mode force it out of eco mode? I drove the Colorado 3.6 around in tow mode 100% of the time for that reason.

Ok, I am doing the muffler delete this weekend. Anyone know what size and length pipe I need to put in place of the muffler? Is it straight or should I use that heavy duty flex pipe?

Ok, truck is at the dealer getting the new tires and +2/+1 lift installed. I am gonna order a washable air filter and the Range device from Summit today. They also sell muffler delete pipes, but I don't know which one is the correct one.

If anyone can post a link to the correct pipe on Summit, that would be awesome, I can add it to my basket and check out and hopefully have it here by Saturday so I can install everything if I order it this morning, Summit is here in GA.

Or at least the diameter of the exhaust pipe needed and if there is an offset and I can probably figure it out from there. The truck is at the dealer right now so I can't run out and measure.

5.3 pipe diameter is 2.75. Are you planning on doing the job yourself?

Yeah, I have a powered Sawz-All that can remove the muffler in a minute or two. I was just gonna clamp a piece of pipe into place and have my friend throw the truck on his lift and then weld it later. I figure I can get the section of pipe and the clamps at Advance Auto down the street, they usually have that stuff.

We rarely get snow down here so I don't have to worry about the salt and rust.

I was going to leave the resonator in place and wasn't sure what to do about the flapper. I did order the Range device, so I won't have to worry about the 4 cylinder drone. If those flappers are prone to issues, I was just gonna safety wire it open? Or should I just not mess with it?

Thoughts?

If you ordered the Range I would remove both muffler and flapper. It would also probably be easier if you go to a muffler shop and have them fab you up a piece of straight pipe.

I guess I could check with a muffler shop. I just figured cutting out a muffler and clamping in a pipe was a no-brainer... haha

The pipe has a little bit of a bend to it when put in place of the muffler, not just a straight piece of pipe.

HoozierZ: trying not to hijack here, but I have been debating removing the air dam (like...today). I'm just curious if there are any delicate components or CV boots (I have 2WD) that are protected from small rocks and other road debris by leaving the air dam on - is that why you felt the need to put the skid plate on? Thanks, beautiful truck by the way, you nailed dit as far as looks go.

I added the skid plate because without it the truck looks unfinished with a big open area between the tow hooks. There’s also bumper brackets exposed once the air dam is removed.
