Any must-do mods for the new Silverado?

Already ordered the range box.  Talked to several shops around here, they want $150 to do the muffler delete.  Guess I will do it myself.

Read thru my thread before you jump all over straight piping it.  Muffler work done professionally is well worth the cost - like many things in life.

Well, I am used to a Monster 1200S with a full Termignoni race exhaust, 58mm headers and dB killers removed, so I am sure it won't bother me.  haha

Every clip I have listened to sounds great, so long as you leave both the CATs and the resonator on.  

The Resonator is a muffler.  Well, it's more like a motorcycle aftermarket can... It has a baffle, in it, even if it is straight through...

Exactly. I left the resonator in place and these trucks actually have 3 cats. The 3rd cat being California emissions specific and has no O2 sensors going to it. Some guys are deleting the 3rd Cat as well. I left them all. Everyone has been shocked at how good it sounds. It is not obnoxiously loud, just gives a nice rumble and sounds like a V8 should.

 

No drone but it will make the chopper sound when going into V4 mode. I knew that going in but it is not nearly as bad as people made it out to be. Can hardly hear it over the radio. Knew I was going to get a Range device when I deleted the flapper though.

 

Call a few other muffler shops. This shop in Columbus is a non-chain local shop that my mechanic recommended. I definitely wouldn't go to Midas or somewhere like that.

Over time I will do a cat-back exhaust, probably do a proper lift kit, maybe 3-4", nothing extreme...  Some skid plate and things like that...

It's a daily driver, used to haul ATV's, and motorcycles to track days, maybe some light off roading, etc...  I work from home mostly so I only put about 20k miles on per year...

So far I removed the lower part of the air dam, but I figured I would wait and see how the new tires and leveling kit look before deciding to remove more.  I removed it all on the Colorado and it looked awesome and gave massive clearance in the front, but on this one the rescue hooks would be left sorta fending for themselves and looking unfinished after I pull off the rest of the dam...  Any pics of the new models with it all removed?

 

You may want to read through the "<$50 Mod" thread.  There are a lot of good/great mods listed there.

Got it back from the dealer, they installed 285/65 r18 tires... I almost think that I could have gone 1 step taller without much rubbing.  Next time!

A shop they outsourced to installed the level kit.  I think it was 2" in front and 1" in back.  The kit and install was $590 out the door, not too bad.

K&N Air filter and Range will be here tomorrow.

Should I clear the air filter before installing?  I ask only because the filters come a little "wet" for my liking and I don't want to foul the MAP sensor... was thinking maybe washing it, drying it and applying a LIGHT amount of filter oil might be better, or does it not really matter on this truck?

Those tires make a WORLD of difference!  Looks REALLy nice!!!  I'm obviously a fan of stock wheels and it's looks GREAT!

That Skid Plate looks great! How much did that cost you to rig up, and would you be willing to make one that fits a Sierra Denali??

 I have very little invested into it since I already had most of the materials laying around from previous projects. I would guess that materials wouldn’t be more that $100-150 if I had to buy everything. I’m not interested in building another, sorry.

If you have any welding abilities you can definitely remove the flapper valve yourself, I got rid of it plus the resonator and muffler, truck sounds great.

I removed the muffler and flapper today, put in a section of stainless flex pipe, clamped in place for $22 bucks just to get me by till I can get to a muffler shop and have them weld a pipe in place.

 

sounds great.  Not too loud, not sure if I want to remove the resonator or not, I might leave it where it is...

Had a local shop weld in 3" pipe, removed the resonator and weld on a GM Accessory exhaust tip.  Sounds awesome.

Hoozier, what running boards are those if you dont mind me asking? Been looking for a set and havent been able to find anything I like!
