2018 Loss of steering

Told the dealer I lost steering a lot and finally got this. It also hurt my thumbs when the steering wheel jerks back. Anyone know how they are going to fix this? Any possible solutions for myself just in case they can't fix it?

I didn't realize the 2018s were also recalled for this issue. The fix for that recall (17276) was to reprogram the EPS module. A small number of 2015s had a similar recall (14743), and the fix was to replace the power steering motor.

Search these forums for things like "G218 ground", "PIT5405", and "electrical issues - fixed".  There is a ground near the driver's side front dash speaker that usually doesn't make good contact or sometimes the battery cables are defective which results in low voltage to the BCM.  This makes the computer go haywire, throw a bunch of codes, and screw up the electric power steering.
