iPhone and USB music connectivity

Recommended Posts

Lately, I've been enjoying music... press the track advance button and the iPhone is SUPER slow to change.  Once it does, music only plays for a few seconds, stops and disconnects.  The radio screen displays "USB Communication Corrupted".

This only seems to happen with the native iPhone music service.  Third-party apps on the phone seems to track properly, but I've not tested this much.

Is there any update to the radio of a 2013 radio with USB interface? I see a lot of the MyLink service updates, but nothing for this system.

I honestly believe it's a problem with the phone software, but I'm hoping the system can adapt to whatever Apple chooses to throw it's way.

There is an update to fix this but it has to be done at the dealership.

I bought an 06 harley new, it had a high tech (to me) Harmon Kardon radio, had some sound issues, one fix was going to the dealer, or burn a cd and do it yourself. So 12 year later GM can’t offer similar? It would save them some money.

Would you happen to know what they’re calling the process and how expensive it is to perform? I’d like them to know what I’m talking about up front and know they’re not going to hook me for the cost of a new stereo.

Sorry I have been out of town without access to a PC. ( Cruise... YAY! lol ) It is a SPS program for the Radio. Should be whatever they charge for an hour of labor.

I called two local dealers and neither of them will touch it.  They admit they've had to reprogram the 2013-> that had the infotainment system with errors, but not the standard radio with a USB port.  Neither want me to pay the $115 for something that may not work... which I can understand.  It's just becoming a pain now.  I'll get through one song and when the phone initiates the changeover to the next song, it immediately pops back to the CAN NOT CONNECT - USB CONNECTION CORRUPTED.  When I advance the song, it does the same.  I pull the USB plug and replace it, and it's good to go for another song or two.

Just tell them to program it and if it fixes it, you will pay for it... If not you shouldn't have to pay for it... It literally takes 10 minutes to program... Any decent shop would at least try it to see if they could get paid the full hour for 10 minutes of work! WTF is wrong with these shops you're going to lol.

Are there other ports than the one you’re connected to? Have you tried a new OEM Apple cable?
