Why a pallet of bagged mulch and not a bulk yard?

On sale at Lowe's and the mother in law and I split a pallet.

I was thinking the same thing I get almost 2 cy in a 8' bed for $50 although you got to line it with a tarp ,  that black dye is hard to get off

No pic, but last fall I hauled a skid of Enviro-bricks for the wood burner for the winter.  1980#, about 15 miles.  Lot of weight, but it handled it fine.

Put my John Deere D140 in the back, with a front bumper on the mower and a bagger.

Solid oak, 6.5 bed. I’m guessing in the low 2000 lbs. Stuff was not dry, weighed a ton. Other than slightly increased breaking handled it no problem.

Last spring I picked up a load of compost. It had rained for like a month. It was wet, really wet. The weight at the scale was 1590kg or 3500lb. The truck rode fine; the 6.2 didn't really even notice the weight. I anticipated that the stopping distance would be greatly increased, which it was. Luckily I didn't have more than 6 km to drive and it was early in the morning. The lady at the scale really didn't want me to leave as I was wayyy overloaded.

Could have made two trips comes to mind - or used a trailer - glad I have a good trailer now....  Normal and tongue heavy loads of rock behind 6.2L Max Trailering.....

For most of my driving years I've owned a pickup and a utility trailer.  The dirty/outdoor stuff goes in the trailer and it can stay there until needed. The trailer is also used to distribute the weight when hauling heavy or large loads.  Many of us will boast about how able our trucks are to carry weight beyond recommended limits.  I was fortunate to learn early, and without serious repercussions that overloaded vehicles work fine until they don't! Then things can get ugly fast.

Haha. No room to store a trailer. Surprisingly I wasn't on the bump stops.  These trucks can take a yard or so of soil. The issue was that the compost was so saturated with water, it weighed double. My '09 could take 2000 lb without an issue (and that was the anemic 5.3). It wasn't feasible to unload the excess.

They rent trailers - still rent when it takes something specific - such as enclosed trailer for moving furniture etc........
