You can use your 4auto in the rain, no prob. Don’t let any of these other guys shame you into you not using it. The official gm info says it may cause premature wear with extended use but that it is safe to use on road. I used it on my 2006 Sierra till I traded it at 187,000 miles (with NO issues) and use it sometimes in my 2014 Silverado z71. Almost 100k with no problems. I only use it less with my 2014 because it has traction control, the Sierra did not. It’s not 4 high so it won’t bind and all that.

I used 4auto in the rain when I had the sra’s. Was definitely necessary.

now that I have normal tires, there is no reason at all to use 4auto in the wet. It was all because of the sra’s.

Sumimoto encounter - cheap as hell and are great in all conditions, check out reviews on tire rack.

The Defenders sucked on my 2500.  Maybe they do better on the 1500 but I won't buy them again.

Had them on my 16 DMax and worked out great but not good for 4x4.

I find tire pressure has a lot to do with traction on a 2500/3500 with an load range E LT.

Unloaded and with 70psi in the rear tires, you are only really riding on about two inches of the center...the best tire is handicap in that scenario.

Unfortunately these newer trucks limit you to how low you can set tire pressures before the MIL is illuminated.

You’re absolutely correct, I’ve had countless GM 4x4 trucks and have always used Auto 4x4 and “Never” had an issue. Lots of trolls in these type of websites that just love to argue no matter the proof you throw out there. Good luck and God Bless

I’ve found that P rated tires will cover much more concrete than LT/E rated tires mostly because LT tires flex less with stiffer reinforced side walls not being as pliable.
