Looking for a Secure and Waterproof Tonneau Ccover

I just purchased a 2018 Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 to replace my 2014.  I wanted the better towing with the 6.2 liter and 8 speed tranny.  On my 2014 I had a Bakflip Fibermax.  It never was really waterproof, I was less than thrilled with tubes draining water in to the truck bed.  The worst issue I encountered was the "UV Resistant Finish"  which in the Florida sun was cracking and drawing back exposing a white substrate after only 1 year.  The leak was mostly due to the bulkhead seal being too thin when used with OEM rail caps.  An additional layer of foam mounting tape helped but did not solve the problem.  On my 14 I was able to route the drain tubes through the drop in bed liner draining between the bed and bed liner.  The 18 has the spray in bed liner so that is not possible,  I don't want to drill holes I the bed of my new truck and the plugs in the bulkhead are up high.  I don't know if a radical bend in the drain tubes would impede flow. (Any body have experience with this?). I was happy with the degree of security when traveling provided by the hard cover.  The G2 is supposed to be more UV Resistant, but I have no first hand experience or advice from someone with experience.  I will appreciate any advice or recommendations on best Tonneau Cover and installation tips.  Thanks in advance.

I have the same cover as you did on your 14. I love it. Although it’s not 100% water proof but close enough with it being 99% in my case. I don’t have a bed liner or spray in liner so my experience will be different. I ran my drain tubes through the plugs in the bulkhead and have not had any drainage issues. Dust does seem to get into the bed and after a hard rain, there are water marks along the bed sides inside the cover, but I’ve never had anything get wet while it was in there.

As far as UV issues, my truck is garages every night and day so I can’t really speak to that.

Tonno Pro hard covers have a vinyl top over the aluminum frame and paneling so theres no leaking to worry about except at the edges which look like they have pretty good seals. I think I am going to go that route because it seems like a pretty good cover that doesn't use some kind of bed rail system and covers the entire bed. They also come with tail gate weather stripping to decrease dust entering from the tail gate.

I love my exstang revolution, it's a vinyl cover but very low profile, no snaps, Velcro or bullshit. It's kind of falling apart on me now but it's been 10 years. I'm in Connecticut so it gets battered in all sorts of elements.

I have an Extang Solid Fold 2.0.

It is not waterproof.  Every time we get hard rain or I go through a car wash there is water in the bed.  Not a lot, but enough that it bugs me.

I'm running the same solid fold on my 16 that I had on my 08 which I got the fall of 07, and thankfully it's kept my bed dry.

Revolver X2.  Not entirely water tight but it is secure, easy to stow to put stuff in the bed.

I've had plenty of different covers, from fiberglass, to snap on... by far this is my favorite.

I have the extang trifold and I get water in as well.  I have the side channels that collect the water and I still get some water inside the truck.  I figured out that it was the way i parked the truck.  If the truck is parked at an angle where the truck's rear is lower than front, the water collects and over spills on the end that doesn't have the drainage tubes.

Just ordered and installed this truxedo pro X15. Really like the way it looks. Very low profile. Almost flat with the bed. Fits tight with no wrinkling and is made of high grade waterproof fabric. More like a convertible top. Not that shiny black vinyl that I think looks cheap. Think truxedo bed covers are the best out there.

Try the Leer Trilogy.

I don't have personal experience with them but the local retailer that I deal with sells a ton of them and he says he does not get many complaints about leakage.

I had the undercover flex on my 17 for a couple months and it started leaking at the folds. Undercover sent me a new one under warranty. That one that did the same thing in just a few months. Since 2 of the flex covers leaked, undercover upgraded me to the Ultra Flex for the next warranty replacement. 3 months in and not a single leak as of now and I love the cover. Hopefully this one stays dry. I've also heard that Rough Country makes a tri fold that is supposed to be water proof, but I haven't seen one in person. If the Ultra Flex starts leaking, I'm going to try the Rough Country cover.
