I bought a new 2018 GMC 1500 with the 6.2 v-8, and the noise reducing system. It also has the Bose system with sub-woofer. The radio has never sound right.  Finally I just found out the noise reducing system was stopping the bass from the back seat speakers and the  sub-woofer as well. And there is no fix! Optional items at optional prices just for things that do not work. I was given a truck to drive that did not have the noise system and the radio sounded great compared to mine, which should have been the opposite. The other truck was over $10,000 less than mine and everything on it worked! What am I suppose to do now? This system is also having an effect on my earing aides. Until now I thought they were going bad, but I realize it is the noise system that is doing it. I have only 4,000 miles on the truck so it is too soon to trade. What can be done?

Sounds like your dealer ship is giving you the run around. If the system on your pickup is not working as it should, it’s well in the bumper to bumper warranty. I would try a different dealership. If anything they should be able to disconnect the noise canceling system to make the stereo work.

I would attempt to insulate the trucks microphones for the noise cancellation system and see how that works.  To me it seems that if the system does not hear noise it wont try to counteract it.

I have read about this issue on a multitude of vehicles.

That might be going on in my truck as well. I swear my subwoofer doesnt work. But I havent checked the rear speakers. I also havent called the dealer yet either. Wanted to verify how it's supposed to sound before I drop it off for a whole day.

18 6.2 sierra as well

Just bought a 2018 GMC SLT and love the truck.  My old truck was a 2007 Silverado and I upgraded the stereo with an external 8" sub.  The stereo was perfect for me and filled the cab with Bass.  I now have the 7 speaker Bose and there is some bass but it sounds like it is all in the front and does not fill the cab.  I just bought a sub woofer and it will be installed next week.  I got the single JL Audio 8" sub and 500w JL Audio amp.  I'm expecting that this will the cab just fine.  I don't want to bounce coins on the hood but if there is a good classic rock sound with bass, I want to be able to feel it.

I also read about the noise cancellation wire that connects to the Bose sub woofer and my installer said he will remove this if necessary.

I read in another forum that the dealer can install a sub and I assume an amp.  Is this still the case?  I read that hey use kicker and I doubt it is the quality of JL Audio?  Thoughts on this?

I have noticed that the bass in my 2018 Sierra SLT will kick on randomly. Sometimes it is after only a couple of minutes, sometimes it is more than 20 (near the end of my normal commute), but almost never from the start. I have not messed with noise cancellation at all.

Welcome to the site.

How about a little more information about your truck? Do you have the 7 speaker Bose (which includes the sub), and do you have the 6.2 engine (only way to have the Active Noise Cancelation).

I don't think you can turn it off, but from what I have seen you'll have to get a bypass harness to disable the ANC feature.

    • Atlas,   Then following your logic we can't believe any story that the MSM produces? I mean it's documented they heavily donate to Democrat candidates. Vote Democrat in high percentages. Many MSM talents are married to Democrat politicians, Gov. employees. That goes for on-air and off, personalities and reporters. So they would all be biased and nothing they produce is to be believed in your mind?   Again the article simply was about ways AI can be used for pricing products. Nothing discounted current situations as a factor.    Again keep looking through your left/right lenses. I don't live my life that way.   And as a heads up this thread will be cleaned up again as much of this is off topic and is receiving
    • Yes, and only a couple years before delivery. 🙄
    • So you're saying toss the baby out with the bathwater? @txab posted article was her take on how AI can be used to manipulate pricing as it already does and has been rebuked by the judiciasry in housing. How AI can be and is used to maximize refinery or even Amazon operations all of which are true but because she is who she is; that makes what she says about what is true, false? Is that something akin to Pre-justice aka prejudice?    Look, I'm first in line to approach all information with caution just because we live in a world where people like to lie about someone or something with such a straight face and in such volume that it makes digging to the truth wearisome. Meaning I understand the skepticisms but if I were to toss out everything a person is for a view they hold then my pool of people to draw wisdom from would be non-existent and I'd be forced to reinvent the wheel daily. Not practical.    "Be innocent as a dove but as cautious as a serpent."    Test each word. Every good lie is part truth or no one would believe it. Find the truth in it and reject what isn't.    On this one, AI is being used to do what has been done by hand for hundreds of years already but at such speed, the point of a computer, that it is more easily monetized. This one wasn't that hard a lift.    I wrote a few formulas in a Lotus 123 program decades ago, a series of linked Macros actually, that allowed a daily inventory to be turned into a running P&L and production plan. Something that took three departments a week to assemble now took the time it takes to input the 'daily changes' in inventory. Later that was ungraded to the more powerful Excel program an and integrated with bar code scanning, inventory to supply was done once per shift. It had a huge impact on production scheduling, Seamless interruption flexibility, inventory error reduction, raw materials cost effective utilization and scrap reduction. Huge improvement in the bottom line. I spent months on that and AI could have done it in minutes. So yes, it not only can be used, they would be foolish to not try. The legality, ethics and morality are not the domain of AI. Humans need to keep a reign on it.
    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.
