Just got my truck back from dealer. Headliner above a pillar on driver side was soaked and water was dripping onto e brake from under the dash. Dealer said it’s the antenna. A known problem. Anyone else have this??

There’s thread after thread on this site about this. So yes your not alone...

BTW it seems to take some dealers multiple times to get it fixed so first place I would drive after they change it out is the car wash and spray it with the wand. But that’s just me.

Happened to my 15 Denali. The seal was bad. They had to take out and replace my headliner... And cracked the windshield removing it....

Hi Red002000 and others,

I am new to the forum as I just sold my 12' Sierra and bought a 15' Sierra Denali.  It's a really nice truck and I love so many things about it.  Wishing my first post was only about my love for my new 25,000 mile truck.  Unfortunately, after we got an inch and a half of rain 2 days after I picked it up I noticed lots of water inside my cab and it sounds like I may have the same problem.  It was dried up before I joined this forum and found this thread.  I thought maybe I had left the door open a little bit by mistake.  I had water dripping from my door speaker cover, off the parking brake etc.  Sounds like similar conditions to what others have experienced.  I have an appt. for it to go back to the dealer on Monday.  Today I washed it and sprayed water around the antenna for a minute.  Sure enough more water inside, although not as bad as the other day (lots of rain).  When looking closer at the antenna I noticed the seal at the base has about a 1/16-1/8" gap at the back side toward the bed.  Are they all like this or is this the problem?  It looks sealed other than that.  Could you tell me a little about how the problem is fixed?  I would love to know a little more before I go in on Monday night.  I haven't noticed moisture in the headliner, but it must be there if this is the problem.  Should I insist they remove it and check for damage?  I will also search for the other threads.  It's strange the previous owner didn't have this addressed, but perhaps it started when his lease was nearly up and he said the heck with it. Thank you to anyone with experience on this one, I look forward to reading this forum!  -Matt

Hi Matt.

Welcome to the site and congrats on the new ride.

I have a 14 Sierra and my shark fin as they are called....does have the slit at the back you are seeing.

I have not had any leaking issues with mine even with the seal separation.

Not sure if this gap is normal or not.

My 15 Denali just started with the red slash GPS icon and no compass.  No water inside though. I believe this was a recall that is now expired. Between the jerking from the 8 speed and the trailer brake warning every 3 seconds the truck is miserable to drive.  I'll be asking for a good faith repair on the antenna when it goes in for the transmission for the 3rd time. I'll let everyone know what they say.

Thanks for the comments guys.  I look forward to using this forum as a valuable resource.  I've spent a great deal of time on the Corvette Forum and now I am finding myself splitting my time!  B88i45: my GPS icon has the red line through it, no compass, and my truck thinks it's 250 miles away in another state.  No clue what that's about, but I hope this can get fixed too as I really like everything about this truck.  It's night and day different then my 12' Sierra 5.3 SLE.

I was originally made the appointment to take it in for a vibration I felt in the drivetrain like little mini rumble strips that would go right to the steering wheel.  I've read some other threads about a torque converter issue with the 6.2 and 8 speed gearbox.  It only did it one day when I went to work and coincidentally it was the same day I noticed the water leak coming from under the dash.  Like I said, I hope things get fixed!!  Any advice on the issues I'm having would be appreciated.  I take it in tomorrow and pick up my loaner vehicle.

Hello,

I picked up my truck at the dealership this evening.  They replaced the shark fin as that was the culprit for the leaking water as well as the faulty nav system.  The compass and nav works now.  They also performed the recall on the steering sensor thing that came out 10 days ago.  My lane departure system needed a new motor in the seat, it was a short, so that is back functioning as it should.  All is well, thank you all for the feedback.  I feel comfortable buying a few accessories now that I feel better about keeping it.  I really do love the truck!
