I’m on week 3 waiting for another TC. They are apparently on national back order.

Well that sucks. Had the truck in Friday for the issue and they're doing the TC. Was told it should be a week. Hopefully sooner.

How often are you guys getting the shutter and rpm fluctuations? Mine is very very sporadic so I’m not sure if it’s happening enough for them to catch and diagnose it.

I bought my 2017 2 weeks ago and it ran great for the first week. All last week it drove horrible, clunking at low speeds, shuddering around 45 to mph with engine speed bounding. A consistent shudder around 70 MPH that is only cured by pressing the gas pedal. Took it in the to the dealer yesterday. Drove with the foreman and all it did was clunk on low speed in the parking lot. Although, we didnt drive it very far and they said they were going to drive it again. Haven't heard anything back from them yet and of course they act like they have never seen this issue before. So we will see what happens. Thankfully I get free rentals at my dealership.

i see I am the only only one. my 2016 NHT 6.2 is doing the same thing now at 31,000. The service writer called to tell me that he verified its bad, but it can be seen by a tech until next week. we will see what they do but my guess is its the torque converter as well.

Just talked to a friend of mine that works at a chevy dealership in parts and he said that there is a new TSB that has come out for the 8sp shudder.  For now GM is only going to do a fluid flush, not even changing out the filter.  No more torque converter changes. GM has a fix that is supposed to come out early next year.

Yes this is messed up but I'm just telling you what he told me.

As far as I can tell, these aren't new tsb's. Or so you mean a new is coming?

I guess what I find confusing is it tells you when it was released and the version changes. Last change was Feb 27 2017

8 Speed Transmissions that experience torque converter shudder and possibly repeat torque converter shudder should be addressed by following TSB's 16-NA-175 and 18-NA-177.  Both TSB's are being updated and those updates should be visible in SI in the next few days. Transmission oil filter replacement is no longer required for either TSB.

18-NA-177: 2017 - 2018 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks equipped with the 8 Speed (M5T) automatic transmission.  Torque converter shudder should be confirmed by following 18-NA-177.  If shudder is confirmed the torque converter should be replaced. In the event a vehicle returns with repeat torque converter shudder the transmission fluid should be changed following TSB 16-NA-175.  Repeat torque converter replacements or a transmission replacement will not provide a long-term solution.  There will be a new service solution provided in the first quarter of 2019.  The new torque converter that is being installed per 18-NA-177 is part of the new service solution coming in 2019. Note: replacement of the transmission oil filter is no longer a requirement of 18-NA-177.  18-NA-177 does not apply to the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon, follow 16-NA-175.

16-NA-175: All 2015 - 2018 8 Speed Applications, (except 2017 & 2018 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon) and the 2019 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon. Note: 2017 – 2018 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks should follow 18-NA-177.  Vehicles with confirmed shudder should have the transmission fluid changed as outlined in the 16-NA-175. If the vehicle returns with repeat shudder the fluid should be changed again. Replacing the torque converter and/or the transmission will not provide a long-term solution.  There will be a new service solution provided in the first quarter of 2019. Note replacement of the transmission oil filter is no longer a requirement of 16-NA-175.

I'm wondering since my shutter has come back would I not be better off waiting until the new fix arrives. I'd hate for them to change the fluid only for it to make it past the factory 36k mile warranty.

I wouldn't think that would be the case.  You have a power-train warranty  that is longer than 36k miles.  Also the fact that you have taken it in they will document the problem so you will be n the system so when the fix comes out early next year that should be applied to take care of you.  That is how I see it.
