Odometer incorrect??

Okay, kind of far fetched, but it all started when I took a road trip to North Dakota with my soon to be father-in-law, in my 03 HD. They have family up there, and he makes the trip several times a year. Well, I offered to drive this time, he knew exactly how many miles it was door-to-door. When we rolled up to the relatives house, there were 50+ more miles then he had said. I didnt think much of it.

So the other day I wanted to test it out. I drove the wife-to-be's car from my work to our new house....

17.3 miles

Borrowed my moms jeep...

17.3 miles

Took my truck...

17.9 miles

Now if you add that up, I currently have 11,500 some miles, thats off like 250+ miles. Not a huge amount, but enough to think its funny. Stock tires, I havent changed anything.

Now my question is, how do you prove something like this? Anybody else have a problem like this?

Sorry about the long post!! :):P

If you don't have one, borrow a handheld gps unit and hit the road.

My GPS is right-on accurate. Set your cruise and check what the GPS says.

I guess on the bright side... if you wanted to put 265/75/16 tires on your truck, then your speedo wouldn't need to be recalibrated.

Or put 255's on and get a few free miles on your warranty.

You could always get a Predator and program your speedometer to be whatever you wanted.

That means you probably arent getting the gas mileage that you thought you were!!! And I second the motion to put on bigger tires, than it would be perfect!!

I thought something was strange with mine too. The spped seems OK but mileage is going on FAST! I had my 98 Z-71 for 2 years and put 27K on it. The 2002 GMC I have now had 19K on it's one year anniversary. Same commute and I thought I used the other truck more than I do this one.

I haven't really paid attention to this issue since I got the Wester's though.
