My 2019 GMC Sierra Denali used to have the square that comes up on the backup camera.  When I turn the wheel it would turn the box showing where the truck would be traveling.  This "square" is no longer there.  I have not been able to find where you can turn it on or off.  Has anyone else experienced this issue?

On the camera app; bottom row of view selection on the far right is an arrow pointing to the right. Touch it. On page two there are two selections. One of them toggles between hitch guidance asssitance with a single line and the other is the box you are searching for.

This is currently happening with my truck.  The guidelines were once there, but are no longer selectable via the button.  The graphic on the button changes to show it should be on, but no guidelines; not in the front, the back, or even with the hitch guide.  Called GM and they didnt know.  Took the truck to the dealer, and they also didnt know.  They said they even tried to re-load the software.  I also have a hour glass symbol in the upper left corner that is persistent whenever in any camera view.  All of the cameras work, just no longer have the guidelines.IMG_2993.jpg.4f7c1a7df3c84b82f7ae15f44b262b27.jpg

What is your Sofware Build Version? [L206, V507 or V509 [Latest]]. The hour glass indicates the system is busy which I have not seen at all on these units. Ask the dealership if they re-loaded the Radio software or the Build Version. I went to the dealership to get my V509 installed since Onstar said they could not do it for some reason. The dealership loaded some latest Radio software but it did not change my Build Version. You might need a complete reload or try returning the system to Factory Defaults via the Settings Icon.

It's V509.  The hour glass has been there since last Saturday.  Got the truck last Friday.  I'm almost positive I saw V507 last Saturday, so no change in the status.  Not sure what exactly the dealership loaded, their words were that they "re-loaded everything."  Also, I restored everything to factory default which had no effect.

I’ve got version 509 and tonight while backing up the screen turned all blue and said in small letters “service back up camera”, then it came back on its own in about 5 seconds.

Hmm, have any issues with the rearview mirror/camera?  Mine occasionally flashes a blue screen with a camera crossed out on the upper left hand corner.

I got V509 tonight as well.  I accepted and shut off the truck... went back in 15 min later and all was good. New version installed, all my settings stayed the same.

Does anyone know what V509 fixes?

Sometimes I have the lines, sometimes I have one line down the middle and other times I have nothing. Super frustrating. The wider camera angles (even the thinner one as they give you two options) is still almost too fish-eyed compared to my 2015. I was very confident backing in a space. Now I am not as confident with the 2019 one on my AT4. Maybe I will just get use to it.

mattsvtcobra,

I agree, pushing that button should cycle through the different options for displaying the guidelines.  Refer to my original post; in the picture, you can see that I have the guideline selected, like you, but I have no guidelines showing in the back-up view (doesnt work in the front either.)  They were there, but since that hour-glass is there, no guidelines.  Truck has been in the shop since Monday for the second time, I just have to wait and see what they come up with.

Did you ever get this resolved?  I have the same issue with the hourglass and no parking lines.

    • Yes, and also pulling heavy trailers or a large camper up steep grades as well as descending grades such as the more rustic off road camping locations and using engine braking with that low gearing as well as soft ground can just suck the power . I realize pickups these days tend to have an over all lower first gear ratio compared to automatic transmission pickups from years back so that has helped a lot in its ability in high range but there comes a point if in four wheel drive the torque runs out at the wheels, certainly with a gas engine. They don't put two speed transfer cases on pickups for a cool factor, they have a function if one needs that massive torque to the wheels that high range can't deliver.
    • Notes 7/18/2026   3,400 miles on this batch of Mobil 1 Euro 5W40 since the GDI pump replacement. Alcohol runs very clean when ring seal is tight and the sump isn't getting hosed with fuel. Checked oil level at fill up today as is my practice and grabbed a white Kleenex to look at the color. What color?  I was going to change it but.....
    • 4 low is really nice on steep boat ramps.
    • Interesting, I suspect I would have fueled up in Lee Vining as the day prior I would have filled up either in Laughlin or near there and maybe again before I entered Death Valley and once out the other side late that evening as I kept on driving into the night up near Lee Vining. Next morning I most likely fueled up in LV before heading over Tioga Pass into ( as I refer to it as "Yose .... Mite" 😁 ). And again that was 19 years ago but the price then must not have jumped out at me like the 5 bill a gallon theme of nutty cult hippy country Big Sir or head so far up their rear Aspen. I'd be curious to know where the highest prices are in the lower 48, I probably would not be far off to guess somewhere in Cali forn ie. Coldfoot and Prudhoe bay may have those prices beat but that is a whole other world up there and when prices are more normal elsewhere that is about what they can be up there I believe in no mans land. Anyway interesting that the 395 corridor is hosing people and the thing is, its tourist season and its not like there are a lot of competition options when driving up that highway from what I could see. Yup, big ole Boaterhomes and various other RV's ahead and behind me at the Yosemite entrance gate and they have to get their fuel somewhere.
    • Those can be high, as well as the big California cities. The ones that will pop your eyes out are the 395 corridor on the Eastern side of the Sierra Nevadas. Lee Vining, $7.19 for regular and $8.89 for diesel is what the Google said right now.
