Dash pad swelling 2018 GMC Sierra

It is really depressing to lay out hard earned money for a truck with interior dash pieces failing at 1000 miles. I will definitely keep good docs on this event and report back with GM's determination of the dash mess.

I agree that it seems to be an issue with the thin plastic portion next to the windshield. But who am I to question the great General Motors Corporation?

Don't "question", you are a CUSTOMER of theirs! Open a claim and really stress the fact how unhappy you are and especially how you are being treated by the dealers. No one is going to take care of the problem out of the goodness of their hearts, so be the squeaky wheel. Choose your words wisely, no mention of Lemon Laws and all of the other things that they do not want to hear at this time. Be firm, and make sure you are getting the info from them, and don't be discouraged if they don't call back at the time they promised and the other little things you will experience, but be very persistent in trying to get what you want.

God, I thought I was the only one who had this. 2018 Sierra, noticed it when it first got cold in the fall, less than 4000 miles at the time. Same as everyone else, 2 spots slightly lifted. Never noticed it on my 14 Silverado.

I've got it too on my '18 Sierra. I hope it doesn't get any worse. If it does, I'll have the dealer look at it before my bumper to bumper expires.

Man I wouldn't wait, the dealers have been all over the board concerning the warping issue. It is relatively easy for them to swap out the defrost panel, only needing to remove the A pillar cover on one side ans the speaker covers then the panel is raised enough to allow the auto headlight sensor to be disconnected, then the panel is finally raised to one side to clear the dash, then out the drivers door. About 30 minutes. Nothing that could cause a rattle, unless some joker drops something in there for your entertainment.

You may need to reach out to GM if your local dealer gives you the run around, the guys that sold me the truck said they have a lot full of trucks with warping dashes, and the local dealer says he has never seen anything like this. I now know there is an issue with 2014 through 2018 GM trucks, but not all of them, so there has to be a reason ours are warping.

GM instructed my local guys to replace the whole thing, leather dash and the crappy plastic panel again, but this time they are to do some snooping around for the factory QC guys.

My defrost panel has arrived, but the leather dash is on back order (imagine that) and once they come up with a diagnosis i will pass it along.
