I have swapped the steering wheel on my 2020 custom for a wheel from a 2020 LTZ. The wiring does not exist in the custom or WT trim trucks.

to make the radio/phone controls work here are the things that are needed: 1. A replacement steering wheel with controls,  2. Replaced wire harness in the column, and to the DIC and Headunit. (Possibly the clockspring, but I cannot conform that),  3. A replacement gauge cluster with the upgraded DIC,  4. A replacement head unit that allows for the steering wheel control input.

on top of that.... most likely going to need some programming for the ECU/DIC ..... at this time (2/19/2020) I don't believe anyone has actually completed a full swap of all these components to make it all work.

I really just wanted the leather wrapped wheel and used all the "guts/wiring" from my existing wheel to put into the leather wrapped shell.

Good job, Jason . Could one  also just replace  the steering control (part #6) and paddle (part # 3) , add the harness, cluster  and keep the existing steering wheel? See attachment. Thanks.

The radio controls are the paddle buttons on the back of the steering wheel, parts 7 & 8. Image is of the previous generation steering wheel but control layout is the same. Gonna take a wild guess that the holes on the back side probably aren’t even there on the base steering wheel (unless they put blank plates there).

Most likely you could.... but the audio control still isn't going to work without the head unit replacement, and programming to the ECU/DIC.

these new trucks are much more specific than the older models with the components.   Unfortunately you really can't just swap the parts in/out because the electronics are all controlled and monitored by the computers..... ?

I do have those controls from the steering wheel (audio control, rear paddles) if anyone wants them.... just pay the shipping for usps priority bubble envelope.

I understand that, the fog lights I ordered were on back order for 2 months. There are some guys on here who have been waiting for fuel pumps for more than 4-5 months. I hope you hood arrives soon!

OTOH, it's' hard to believe people buy a $40k+ vehicle without ensuring it has the options that are important to them....

I did the same thing because to get those options you have to get one with that package and that was 6-12k more than my custom trail boss.

I added a steering wheel with all the options on my Trail Boss Custom last night and the audio controls did not work. However, I might keep it because of the leather wrap.

not necessarily....its only about $1800 between a custom and LT trim and if you can buy and finance the right way you can save there too.....TB if needed/wanted is easy to replicate as well in aftermarket.....GM sells the kit so just depends how you go about the whole process....

adding interior is a PITA but suspension and tires is super easy

std LT Z71 4x4 all star and do gm lift for 1k.......add rims and tires when stock ones wear out....
