Cigarette lighter plug on dash - always on

Is there a way to turn the cig plug, next to the 110 plug on ‘19 Denali, off when vehicle is turned off? My radar detector stays on all times!

To my knowledge, no.

 

You may want to think about wiring it directly into the fuse panel and use a fuse tap to connect it into a fuse that only has 'key on' power so that it turns on and off with the truck.

 

Here is a link for a dash cam install I used. It would basically be the same thing except you'd only use one power wire with one fuse tap going into the 7.5 amp heated steering wheel fuse.

I wired mine in to the back of the mirror cover on the windshield, works great.

So, it is an “always hot” outlet? No way to turn off? Hey guys, thanks for the Hotwire input. I will more than likely wind up going that route anyway.

Yes there is.  I just did it on my 2020 Chevy 2500.  Watch the youtube video below.

to find out where my fuse was.  I switched it as he did (mine was on the other side of the vehicle) and it works!!!!

GM has been leaving it hot for years. My Avalanche has 3 all hot, ridiculous. Can’t leave anything plugged in.

Leaving them hot was a handy thing back when everyone smoked, and they were primarily for lighters rather than powerpoints....

The outlets I was referring to were outlets not cigarette lighters. In any event simply switching the key would turn them on if desired. Staying hot is an inconvenience.

Hey does this fuse location work when the vehicle is remote started?  If not do you know one that is?  Im sick of having no heated seats (dealer ship keeps wanting me to throw money at it) so im buying an after market one.

This will actually work out for me with my dashcam for parking protection, now I won't need to hardwire it or find an external power supply. The cable won't bother me because it's only while it's parked.
