Noticed a smell of gas, so im gonna dig into the top half of the engine and figure out whats up. Not interested in taking it to a stealeship and getting the run around when I can get it done myself.

Has anyone had this issue and if so what was the fix? Gas mileage is $h!t right now like im lifted with 37s and 3.08s. Went to run errands and just watched the fng needle drop.

Its a 100k engine, so its time for some maintenance. Thanks!

The symptoms you are describing are consistent with a problem in the EVAP system. Check all of the lines and connections and look to see if the canister itself is cracked. The EVAP canister is located in front of the fuel tank. It also dumps fuel vapors into the manifold so you should also check to see if that line is in tact. You need a pro level scanner to run more in depth checks of the valves and solenoids that control the EVAP.

On a side note, if you have 100k, your PCV valve is ready to be replaced too.

I did check all the evap stuff and even changed the solenoid at the intake. No change. I'm thinking I'll order theintake gaskets and check out what's under.

I’ll assume you pulled the dipstick and checked that already for fuel contamination?
None there. I check the oil level weekly.

Good time to clean up the VLOM...at 100K I'd probably just change the lifters too if you're going to keep AFM/DOD.

Grab some pictures while you're in there. I would be interested in seeing your 100K valves...if you run a catch can and they are clean....great, if you don't run one and they are clean...great too but it's an opportunity to shed some light on the catch can debate. Good, bad or ugly, I would love to know.

I am not even going to try and advise on that, I have not had to do it yet. I am sure others will chime in and give you great ideas. My hopes ( catch can or not) are that they are clean and you can just focus on that gas smell!
