USMC Kenney Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 I have the jump seat with storage in the front of my 2016 2500HD Crew. I like the ability to have a 6th seat when needed but it's very uncomfortable for my wife when she sits there for very long (my kids are all too tall to ride there). Does anyone know if there is a kit or anything that can remove the storage in the bottom of the seat that adds more cushion and make it more comfortable.
HeySkippyDog Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 I haven't really looked closely at mine, but I think the storage bin is a structural component of that jumpseat. You're not counting on that seat for long trips, are you? It's got a lap belt and no airbag in a truck designed to crumple. [emoji102]Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-J727A using Tapatalk
wforrest08 Posted March 23, 2019 Posted March 23, 2019 The factory Chevy “custom” & GMC Elevation packages I believe have a jumpseat without the storage area. There was a guy that posted on here a week or two ago with one wanting to add the storage bin. Might see if you can find a custom or maybe the work trucks are the same on the lot and see if it’s any different without the storage then find one for sale or swap a guy who wants the storage seat.
USMC Kenney Posted March 24, 2019 Author Posted March 24, 2019 @HeySkippyDog Not long trips but easier to drag the travel trailer to the campground with everyone in one vehicle instead of driving two. @wforrest08 Thank you, I'll check that out!
Enough Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 Find a WT in a salvage yard. My 2016 had the jump seat without the storage compartment. Still not the most comfortable seat but it has a bit more padding.
Tx_operator87 Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 Could just get a memory foam pad for her to sit on when y'all go on tripsSent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

In the past it was very common and often a necessity to have three in the front seat. Crew cabs transported crews, and taking more than one friend in a regular cab was common. I have preferred a jump seat in my recent trucks for the odd occasion extra seating is required. However, the last time I picked up a family of five at the airport the parents wouldn't allow their teenage kids in a lap belt situation and the dad didn't want to put his wife at risk. I ended up with the biggest member of the group beside me who was visibly uncomfortable. Unless manufacturers bring equal safety to all front seating positions, I won't bother with a jump seat in my next truck!
Imcrazy Posted March 24, 2019 Posted March 24, 2019 My issue with the jump seat on GM trucks is that there is only a lap belt, I was very hesitant to use it when I had a 6 seater... As much as I don't like Ford trucks, they have a full seat belt on the jump seat... I wouldn't want my wife in the front seat with just a lap belt, if you get in even a small crash her head may very well hit the dash...
