Time for a change, a mix of Bilstein, Eibach, and Superlift.

Recommended Posts

Decided to change up my suspension setup on the truck this week.  I was running a Superlift 3.5" kit with Bilstein front shocks set to factory ride height, and I decided that I didn't want to run lift spacers anymore.

So my new front setup is Bilstein 5100 front shocks set at 1 step above stock and Eibach 2.5" lift springs, this combo netted me ~3" of front lift as I expected.  I'm still running Superlift front control arms and their diff drop.  I also took this chance to step up to 34" tall tires (295/60r20), and they look amazing on there!   The new meats required some additional trimming, so I ordered and installed the Rough Country Inner Fender Trim Panels.  This GM skid plates were on my list for a while, and picked up a good deal on eBay a few weeks back, the lower took some creativity to clear the differential since it is dropped.

For my rear setup I'm running a Pro Comp 2.5" lift block with matching U bolts, and Bilstein 5100 shocks.

Here is a snap shot of what I'm running, and what I've spent including shipping if you're curious:

Front:
Bilstein 5100 front set to 1 notch up. ($210)
Eibach 2.5" lift springs ($150)
Superlift Upper Control arms and no cut differential drop ($565-$160=$405)
(Sold off the front spacer, rear shocks, and rear lift blocks/u-bolts for $160)
GM Aluminum Skid plates 23135960 and 23135959 (used Superlift's included skid plate spacers to clear the differential) ($86)
Rough Country Inner Fender Trim Panel ($20)

Rear:
Pro Comp 2.5" rear block and U-bolts ($60)
Bilstein 5100 shocks ($145)

Wheels and Tires:
Hostile Sprocket 20x10
Nitto Ridge Grapplers 295/60r20

I'm interested to hear what you think about the ride. I installed the Pro Truck Lift System and found that it was too stiff. Drove it for a month or so and ended up taking it out and putting in Halo Lifts Boss Coilovers set at 3" with two bottom 1/4" spacers. The truck rides much nicer now.

When I called Eibach they told me their spring is rated at 828# (10% higher than stock which puts it at 745#). The Boss Coilovers is an Eibach spring too but it's rated at 700#.

I have no idea what some of the other coilovers are rated at.

Your truck looks good!

Thanks man, I'm very happy with it.  The ride is a little stiffer than what I had at low speed driving, but I honestly think it's just me being picky.  I bet after a couple thousand miles I won't even notice it, I have no idea what this truck rode like stock anyways, I put a 2" leveling kit almost immediately.

The Boss coilovers are a good budget minded option that I may move to, and so are the Bilstein 6112s from what I've seen.  I may upgrade in the future, goal would be a set of Kings, but they just aren't necessary for my off road use.  I'm going to run my setup through some dirt roads in a few weeks and see how it goes.

As long as all your geometry is good with no stress to your suspension then great! Your Truck looks great and love the blue! You’ve got same tires and size as mine, great tires, a bit rough riding but bullet proof tires.

Thanks. My setup nets about the same, maybe 3/4 inch lower.
Fox PS2.0 Coilovers + 275/70r18 (33.2)
I guess I'd need a 4" lift to get about where I think I want.

Yah I would like another 1/2”, but my tires clear and the angles are great.  I’m just going to leave it alone.  My ground clearance is great where it is too, check out the approach angle

My 2015 GMC All- Terrain sits at 39 inches with a 1.5" level.  I wonder why yours is not much higher with a 3.5?  I'll measure again tonight to be sure.

Not sure, what size tires are you running?
