Ok I contacted my dealer and told them about the popping sounds and that GM had a new bolt kit that was supposed to be used when the spoiler is removed. My 2020 was built in October 19, and under went the leak repair, so they ordered it and pulled spoiler and put back on using new kit, I didn’t see it or old bolts so don’t know what is different but my spoiler was popping a lot but temperature was hotter and it didn’t pop as much when colder. So far I have only heard a few sounds that could have been a pop but nothing at all like before but I won’t really know till it gets hot again but so far it seems to be working. I would suggest bugging the dealer to do the new bolt kit if you are bothered by the annoying popping. If they pull the latest TSB on window leaks it talks about replacing with new bolt kit.

Just bumping this to the top to see if anyone has gotten it resolved?  I did log a complaint, for which they wanted me to go to the dealer, of course.  I let them know until there is a resolution for this seemingly common issue, I won't have my brand new truck pulled apart for them to say it can't be recreated.  The shifting temperatures back and forth seem to increase it.  It definitely seems to be getting worse, having gone from 200 miles the first time I heard it, to about 1500 miles now.

Mines been going on for about 5k miles HOWEVER mine only happens in car washes. Ive learned to just push up on ceiling when dryers are on.

Ive never heard mine pop outside of that.

After researching this I found it's the roof spoiler and that the newest models have rubber washers on the bolts and that is why it is no longer happening on newer 2020-2021 models. I brought my Sierra in and the dealership said it's a "Characteristic of the truck", after that response I filed a complaint with [email protected] which is the GM resolution/complaint department. They reached out to my dealership and the GM engineers who ultimately said the same thing. The rep from GM said the only way to fix this is for a recall but there are not enough corporate complaints at this time to warrant one, so I urge all of you to email and complain so we can get a recall to fix the problem!

Bumping again.

I beg to differ on the newer models not making this pop anymore. I have a 2021 RST manufactured 12/20 and it did not make the pop for the first 2500ish miles. I had a long road trip recently, about 500 miles round trip, and now it pops. It can be random one acorn hitting the roof sound or sometimes it could be a couple consecutive as if I was under an oak tree during a windy day and it'll do that while not even moving.

MY 2020 RST/Z71 just did this for the first time today. It was exactly as described sounded like an acorn dropped on the roof twice but I was no where near trees.

I also had the rear window leak fixed about a month ago and they claim to have used the new bolt kit when replacing the spoiler. I wonder if it will keep happening?

Well, it looks like I just joined the acorn drop sound club. My May manufactured 2021 Trail Boss just started doing it. My last 19' Silverado was a repurchase due to the 8 speed, and now this one has had engine problems, noisy leafs that they can't seem to fix, and now this. The sound is annoying the hell out of me. I know if I take it to the dealer it will just be a "could not duplicate concern." Anyone have any luck with a fix?

Unsure if there's a new post on this issue...I have a 2022 RST with 300 miles experiencing this issue.  Adding a comment to say that this issue still exist on the latest builds.

I have brought my 21' Trail Boss in to dealerships. They have stated "Can not duplicate concern," and that they've never heard of this issue. I brought in the TSB that applies to 2020 models but they are saying until GM updates it to 21' they can't do anything. At 10,000 miles, I now have the dreaded window leak. They are replacing the window so I'm hoping that will do something to alleviate it.
