So I put the aftermarket rims and tires I had on my 16 a couple of weeks ago.  I bought these rims and tires last summer and they have the universal tpms which worked great on my 16.  Brought to dealership and they cannot get the tpms tool to read.   Having the light on is annoying me to no end.  Anyone else have a similar problem or possible solutions to this?  Thanks in advance for the help.

You need new sensors, the 19's changed frequency.

Correct, 2019 went to 433 MHz and yours are 314.9MHz.  Some shops have to enter a vehicle that uses a 433 MHz  (i.e 2018 Traverse, GMC Acadia etc.) or another vehicle that uses 433 MHz into their TPMS tool to program them .

They change stuff in the new generations just to keep us on our toes (in an effort to try to make us exclusively use their service department, which just makes us buy more stuff to work around that.)  You could buy a programmer to turn off the TPMS alarm, but they may not be out yet for the 19 models.

SO could the dealer put in their tpms tool its a 2018 and it would work?

You need new TPMS sensors in your wheels if you want the TPMS to work on your dash.  You need 433mhz TPMS sensors installed so they can talk to the trucks 433mhz controller.

Lot's of FUD there... Are these honest facts or just your tinfoil-hat opinions/suspicions?

Programmers for the new sensors can be trivially gotten from Amazon or eBay for $10-15.

Less FUD here than in a pissed-off Navy SEAL, son.  Facts told to me by good friends who are a Chevrolet dealer sales manager, service managers, and senior service tech.  We've gotten to know each other really really well due to the built in quality (NOT) on my Silverado.  Sure, you can buy sensors and scan tools on the net, but we wouldn't have to if they weren't gradually removing everything we can do ourselves with each new generation.  For example, on the GMT900's, you could relearn your own TPMS sensors after tire rotation without buying a special tool.  The next generation, they changed it where you couldn't, in an effort to make everyone have their tire rotations done at a dealer.  You can replace a servo in your HVAC system or bleed your own brake fluid on ABS systems, or clean your throttle body, but you'll need a $1200 GM scantool to realign/recalibrate/reset the system for it to work right afterwards.  Hell, even the General putting their air filters in boxes where you need a Torx bit to remove the lid is an example of this.  The previous generations used snap clips or wing nuts, where you didn't even need a tool to open it.  I can't wait for the new all-in-one engine oil boxes with inclusive filters to come online.  Word is the manufacturers are trying to make that a manufacturer-specific, dealer-only item, so you can't even change your own oil anymore.  Why?  Because their per-transaction profit on sales is down due to the info on the internet, so they increasing rely on $ from the service/parts department for their revenues.  All of this can be readily confirmed on these forums; no tinfoil hat wanted or needed.  Except to possibly hide from your mom.

Once again, you need new sensors, end of story.

Ok... so no one with actual first-hand knowledge of the motivations and reasons GM engineers make the decisions they do, just third-party dealer employees.

Hmm, seems like a fact, it can be verified pretty easily.

Oh hmm... now that's troublesome right there son.  Gonna have to support that with a source because it smells like more FUD..   "Son" lol.. see what I did there throwing your condescending BS back at you?  lol I'm a funny guy too.

Hmm, that doesn't smell like truth to me.  You can bleed ABS systems without a scantool if you do it right and don't get air into the system and then need to open up the computer-controlled valves to get the air back out.  Definitely smells like more FUD there.

Oh noes!  TORX!  Worse then the metric invasion in the 80s!  It's no triple-square though, so come on, let's not be afraid of torx. We can be adults here.

Ok, maybe I overstated that adult thing.

Thread Hijackers.    Bottom line,  OP said he used wheels and sensors from a 2016 truck,   FACT, that won't work on a 2019 truck.  Needs new sensors that match the truck.  End of story.

New Sensors needed, Once again..... I think I've said that before, maybe even twice.
