Infotainment issues

19 SLT w/navigation 

 

In my 17 when I would get a text on my phone while connected through Bluetooth it would show on the screen. I cant find any setting in the infotainment or on my phone that is turned off but needless to say I no longer get a notification. It's a pain as I usually have my phone on vibrate so if it's on the charger I dont even know I have a new text unless I look at the phone. 

 

2nd issue is the volume knob on the dash adjust the phones volume. On more than one occasion I've had the stereo volume way down and when a call comes through there is no audible ring. 

 

Seems like the 19 is a step backward from my 17 in both aspects. Is there a setting I am missing?

I could be wrong but I think SMS has been discontinued on our 19's. Big brother looking out for us.

I'm not looking to text through the truck but an alert would be nice. 

 

Just 5 min ago on my drive home had s call come in and the only way I even knew it was the radio cut out. Ringer was so low due to the way the stereo turns my phone volume down I couldn't even hear it.

Yeah, reading a text message on a screen while driving is, well, pretty much the definition of distracted driving.

Not trying to see it on the screen. In my 17 you couldn't see it on the screen unless you were moving. It at least showed a notification and gave you the option to listen to it.

you have to have the messaging app install to get notification.

I get texts and they can be read aloud, whatever was done the salesman did it for me when we setup the WiFi and onstar.
