Shocks?

2005 1500 Z71 crew cab,   what are good replacement shocks for it?   how long are original shocks good for?  have 145k on it with original ones i think that are on there.

Bilstein if you have the extra money to spend. Pro Comp makes a decent shock too! I just replaced all 4 of mine with Pro Comps and am pretty happy with them! I have an 05 1500 as well.

I have 245k on my front shocks,no leaks,as good as new?I doubt it,02,2500,and I am about to replace front brakes,darn it,only got a 100k out of them,but they do call me"slowpoke"

I put Bilsteins on mine - they aren't all that.

I might try KYB Monomax next time.

Just because they are not leaking doesn't mean they are working.  I just replaced mine with Blistiens..the fronts just fell apart when I took them out.  I have 133k on them. 

 

As far as the Blistiens, I'm a blistein fan as I use them on my race car but the truck shocks aren't anything to write home about.  I get more bounce in the front now.  Still not bad, but I don't think I would spend the money again on them.  I guess they look good though on the truck.

I love bilsteins, they are tight enough to handle well on the street and loose enough to ride smooth off road. By far my favorite. Way cheaper to buy on amazon than at parts stores.

Shocks are shot around 50K miles tops. Internal seals fail and won't leak.

Bilstien light duty, or heavy duty if you do a lot of towing & do not mid a harsher/stiffer ride.
