I've been browsing the Tundras forum a bit. But yeah, there's nothing there that will leave you stranded.

I am in the same boat as you, I actually came from a 2007 Tundra Crewmax 1st year of new generation (work horse). My car is currently at the dealer for the 4th time! My GPS and compass do not work, I have had my antenna replaced, and infotainment 2 times already. GM is currently working on a buy back offer, so lets see where that goes. If I cant make headway then I will most likely get an attorney involved. If I do get money back, I will most likely get a new tundra...those things are hard to break! I tried for years (looking for a reason to get a new truck) without success and finally gave up and just traded it in! Those things are solid as a rock.

I have a 2019 Silverado  Z71 6.2  I bought truck September 25th 2019 with 4 miles on it . Two weeks later one of the lifters on motor went, During the Gm Strike (so they could not get parts dealer had truck for almost 30 days) Got truck back and drove for about a month then on Wednesday 18th while on New Jersey turnpike the motor died, had it towed to my dealer in Pa and they tore apart the engine and 2 cylinder walls are toast, all with 2900 miles on the truck so I am in the process of the buy back   ANY Suggestions ???

Toyota not nearly as much for sure.I did own 2 new tundras and my 2000 tundra was super solid, my 2005 not as solid as 2000 but still good, and I just got recall awhile ago on it for air bag ( 14 yrs later).....I just don't like new tundras and while they are reliable I don't want a vehicle just because its reliable and that's only reason...my Silverado been solid so far and am sure none of manufacturers want to take their vehicles back.....they all have recalls but what you guys are going thru is horrendous and I would be trying to get back every cent, tax is money you paid on a purchase and if that purchase is recalled or cancelledthan what are you paying tax on?...no way they can keep tax if they take vehicle back, or dest, title, lic and docs for that matter.....

 

they send you all these surveys and emails after purchase about your satisfaction and how they strive to be best.....right up until your truck takes a shit!

My 2020 Silverado 2500HD had a leaking rear window. Long story short, and one very smelly mold and mildew problem, 3 separate failed repairs - GM has agreed to give my purchase price back. Here’s the new problem - my dealer can’t find me another truck. I don’t ‘t want to accept a check because I will have to pay sales tax on another $60,000 price tag. Anyone else have this problem? Can I buy from another dealer out of state? My dealer says there’s nothing out there.

thinking about starting that process as well.  50+ days without my truck will do that...

I am going through the bbb auto line at the moment,awaiting a call from them to set up an arbitration date with gmc

My neighbor just initiated this process the other day. Got a 2021 Custom Trail Boss. Had 1100 miles on it, and the engine is toast. 5.3 V8 with AFM. Hasn't even made his first payment yet. Something about some extra/rogue bolts being inside the engine. Engine started rattling, so he took it to the dealership. Dealership offered a replacement engine under warranty, but my neighbor wants out of the truck because having a replaced engine will decrease the value later on. He's hoping to get into a Custom Trail Boss with the 6.2, but that is a unicorn.

He is going to have an uphill battle imo, once you sign on that dotted line it is yours and it will take a good bit of effort to get gm to give a new one.

 

I agree though and i don't care how plug and play or good the tech is, a replaced engine ruins the truck imo! Especially considering he has not even made a payment yet, every rattle, every noise will be amplified throughout ownership!

The dealership is already moving in the direction of getting him a new truck. He wants a 6.2 crew cab with 6 person seating. He prefer a Custom Trail Boss, but that's a unicorn. Out of 4 states (California, Nevada, Utah, and Arizona) there's only 1. Looks like he's going with another trim level. The dealership is trying to do a trade with another dealers for a 6.2. He may opt to have the Trail Boss suspension upgrade added by the dealer.

It doesn’t work. They stall until they can run you out of warranty or get someone to put the blame on you and void the warranty. Worst nightmare of my life owning a brand new duramax. Yep like a rock … it shud make a beautiful 70,000$ boat anchor. I’ve seen homeless people take more pride than gm

      I agree, simplicity and reliability matter more as vehicles get more complicated. A V8 work truck option with fewer electronic features and a stronger warranty would definitely appeal to a lot of buyers who use their trucks for real work. Customizing it with trusted outfitters is often the best way to get exactly what you need

      I’ve heard similar complaints from newer vehicles where the factory “premium” systems don’t always live up to expectations. A good installer should be able to improve the sound without turning it into a bass-heavy setup. I’d look into upgrading the front speakers, adding a quality DSP amplifier, and possibly improving sound deadening first—those changes usually make a much bigger difference than just adding a subwoofer. Hopefully someone local can recommend a reputable installer in the Las Vegas/St. George area.

      Do you remember that Harley Davidson was more successful (solvent) when it produced about 60% of the market demand (by design) and forced wait times of up to three years? Even when your turn came around it was, "Take what we are giving you or move to the back of the line and start over". HUGE markup's were 'normalized' and dealer killed. 40% markup and no floor plan? What's not to love? Greed will kill them yet. They have surplus production and customer base is tanking. And still they think nosebleed pricing will work.

      The engine was done as part of the 6.2 recall?   You'd have to see if your VIN also has the 6.2 engine special coverage on it.  Coverage number is N252494003.  If you have this, your engine is covered under this and NOT the GM replacement part engine warranty which is 3yr/100k from the date of install.  The 3yr/100k mi warranty is in effect for non warranty purchases.     This is not any different if it was replaced under warranty without a recall or special coverage.  So if you had a 5.3 and it popped at 3 years in at 50,000mi during the 5yr/60k powertrain, the replacement engine would not get the 3yr/100k, and instead gets the remainder of the 5yr/60k as coverage.     So N252494003 gives 10 years or 150,000mi of coverage, which ever comes first, starting at the vehicle in service date.  So if your in service date is 01/01/2022, N252494003 gives you special coverage of the engine until 01/01/2032 or 150,000mi, whichever comes first.  So if your start date was 01/01/2022, you'd have left 5 years and 4 months (lets round to august 1st), or 62,000mi left of coverage.   So you need to know your in service date to know how much coverage is left.

      Okiee dokie there bud, way to take things to the extreme.   I guess you missed the whole point and take things way to serious. I installed different EV6 style injectors that just so happen to be larger in my car running the same LQ4 engine and with a better spray pattern than the stock style injectors and I noticed no difference in the idle quality. Kinda was my round about way of saying that even if you put the same size but better style injectors in your truck, you will likely see the same thing.    I'm sure you're great to have conversations with in person if that's how you act through a keyboard. One little things sets you off and now I guess my dick is all up in your face.
