Carven progressive too loud

Hi, new to the forums posting, have followed for years.

I have a 2014 5.3L Silverado.  Just installed a Carven progressive series cat back exhaust.  I wanted something a bit louder than stock, but not imposing, so I went with progressive over competitor muffler.  I have, unfortunately, still found this system a bit TOO LOUD.

This was most noticeable on a recent road trip pulling a trailer.  Above 2k RPM the sound is too intense and created awkward conversations between me and my co-pilots.   I'm talking like 80db inside cab.  It isn't necessarily a "drone", nor does it happen only when the truck switches to V4 mode.  It is just a bit too loud in general.

I was wondering if anyone had suggestions on how to improve the sound in the cab.  Do you think having a shop weld in the OEM resonator would help at all?  Should I get an aftermarket resonator installed?  Should I just switch back to stock?  Anybody want to trade for something quieter :)

Anything you add has some level of performance loss at this point. But many options... honestly I don't know what that pipe looks like but if there is a straight section measure it and for under $100 get a good muffler and add it. Band clamps will hold it and as easy as can be. Other options are inserts. There are twisted or cone. It will increase back pressure and make the muffler work more. Also some claim a larger and longer tip with help. To me it would seem like that just makes it a horn but for the cost not a bad option.
My stainless side is load in cold weather. That is mostly the material.

A virbrant ultra quiet resonator is what I would do.

Years ago I had a 5.3 Sierra with a cat-less y-pipe into a magnaflow muffler with the tail pipe chopped off over the axle so you couldn't see it. Needless to say it was raspy and very loud. I welded the virbrant resonator in before the muffler and nearly all the rasp and drone went away. I could drive on a freeway without having to worry about keeping the rpm's down so I could think and it still kept the full throttle sound I wanted from the magnaflow muffler.

These resonators are very nice units, it will not restrict flow assuming this is a standard 3in catback like they all seem to be. They cost about $80-100 but they are so worth it. If that is an option you wish to take check them out, shop prices on amazon/ebay etc etc.

The stock muffler/resonator setup had the resonator after the muffler.  Is there a reason to do it one way or the other (before or after muffler)?    Just curious.

Doesn't matter. Just throw a resonator on it wherever. Cats also eliminate rasp and those are all the way up by the header. Vibrant would be the best way to go.

Yeah, you can put it anywhere. I was limited on space because I cut my tail pipe section shorter, so it had to go before the muffler.

This is disappointing to hear, I was looking at the Carven Progressive almost exclusively...

Back to the drawing board.

I want uniuqe (like a before the rear wheel exit) but I only want noise when I stomp on it..
