Chevy shake 2015 apparent fix

Recommended Posts

Taking mine to the dealer tomorrow after dealing with it from buying brand new. Started at 60k miles and was in the shop twice between then and now with 110k miles. Apparently they’re flushing transmission totally and using some new fluid. Anyone know anything about this or if it will actually fix it? Sorry to rehash the same issue

I was under the impression that the new fluid was for the 8 speed. I've read a lot of people having the fluid flush fix their issue. Good luck. I have the 6 speed with a vibration. I plan on buying a deeper pan with a drain plug and some amsoil Dex VI. I'm gonna drop the pan change the filter fill it up and drive it for a week then drain and fill, rinse and repeat a couple times and hope for the best.

Confused. You said you’ve been dealing with it since it was new then You said it started at 60k miles and it’s been worked on twice and now you have 110k miles. Which is it?

if it started right after you bought the truck new then I would say it’s the Chevy shake. But if it started at 60k miles then I would say it’s something else. At 60k miles parts are worn and any number of things could cause a shake or vibration. Also the Chevy shake is more of an annoyance, it hardly makes the vehicle undriveable. I think you may have other issues

I am desperate for a solution to make my struck drivable

Quick questions, engine, 6 or 8 speed transmission, 2WD or 4WD, lifted, lowered, standard, double, crew cab?

The more information you provide, more help everyone can be.

In 2015, if you have the 6.2L, you get the 8-speed.

If they are doing a fluid flush, that's not the Chevy Shake.  That's transmission shudder.  And that only applies to the 8L90E, which you could only have in '15 with the L86 motor as I mentioned above.  The Chevy Shake is typically associated with the driveshaft, but other driveline components also seem to be blamed (as well as AFM making the problem worse when it engages).

I meant that I was the only driver. It started at 60k which is from what I’ve gathered where most others started noticing the shake as well. It’s gotten worse with time and it currently may have other problems, but I know it’s for sure got the shake. Hence it being in the shop for a 3rd time for the same issue now n

Lol or just finally joined after lurking looking for answers. Or any kind of help really. But thanks for the helpful reply! Note I said it’s been in the shop 3 times for the same issue.

Thank you for actually being helpful. I got it into the shop and the dealer wanted to tell me it was my tires, which I bought from them 13,000 miles ago when it was in the shop for the shaking then. So they’re replacing all four for free and going to check out other things. I will keep you guys updated. Thanks for not being a di** like other buddy above.

Appreciate the helpful responses. It’s always he a SLIGHT shake/vibration but it was something I could kind of deal with. Once 50-60k miles came it turned into the classic “spilt water test” even after new tires, rotations, etc. I know since being on this forum reading a lot here don’t believe in the shake, but that’s fine. I don’t need anyone to validate my concerns. Just wondering if anyone else that had the issue ever found a resolution.
