Any 1500 AT4 Diesel Owners?

Hi there! Im looking at buying / ordering a 2020 AT4 Diesel up here in Canada.  Anyone have one yet?

How is the fuel economy verus a non factory lifted trim

How is the DEF system in the winter when it freezes up at night

Thinking of ordering it with the 18's for more tire selection, maybe put a 265 70 r 18 Cooper AT3 4S or Toyo ATII AW?  same width as factory but a bit taller?

Any feedback greatly appreciated!  Read up alot online from the 5.3 and 6.2 owners already, you all seem pretty happy so far.

Bought mine a week ago through my dealer who got it from another dealer. Should be here in a week or so can post some updates. Only sad thing is its coming with 20's and I would have likes 18's.

From what i've read the DEF system is fully heated. Just turn the truck on according to gm and let the tank heater heat it up. Once the truck shuts off it purges back into the tank to prevent lines from freezing .

I have about 1600 miles on my 2020 AT4 Duramax

Getting about 20-21 mpg. Was hoping for a little better. Plenty of power

That is surprising I would have expected higher as well. I am not really certain that the added cost of diesel and DEF is worth it at that MPG? Though If I recall the duramax has tremendous torque.

I would still love to own a diesel for longevity of the vehicle sake. I have the 6.2L and my first 150 miles with the truck it was getting 9mpg... I guess it has to learn your driving habits etc now its averaging 16 mixed driving in NYC traffic. Our highways are basically city driving...

Same torque as the 6.2 but less power. However, since the diesel has a turbo, the torque comes very early so it will feel more responsive than the 6.2 off the line. The 6.2 wins out in the end though because of the significantly higher horsepower. With that said, the diesel mileage is a tad disappointing i must admit. I get 17 mixed and 21 on the highway pretty consistently in my 6.2 AT4.

Thats a shame.

Im really enjoying how smooth the 6.2 is. Only thing I miss from my ram was the stock exhaust note was just right. The 6.2 is silent.

The 6.2 easily walks away from the diesel in acceleration.  it's about 2 seconds quicker to 60 and in the 1/4 mile.  It was not made to be a fast truck, but it is quicker than the eco diesel from Dodge.  As for fuel economy- well.. you are running winter blend diesel now and that does rob a bit of power and fuel economy, much like winter blend gasoline.  Give it a few more thousand miles to get broken in.  Your fuel economy should be MUCH better according to this. On my HD Duramax the MPG went up after about 5000-10000 miles.

You can fix the 6.2 silence with a catback system. At this point, there are plenty available. I myself have been very happy with the Gibson but plenty here have been equally happy with the Borla. Other choices besides those 2 are available.

The 21 highway mpg i'm referring to is on the low end. Obviously this is affected by multiple things such as vehicle speed, wind speed and direction, vehicles in front, etc. If i get tailwinds, highway usually averages around 23 mpg and can go as high as 25 mpg. This is also hand calculated and not what's reported by the computer which on my truck over-counts by about 0.5 - 1mpg. Picture below is my best mpg attained over 60 miles (hand-calculated will be at least 24 mpg).

thats not terrible, my V6 3.5L Gas Tacoma 4wd only gets 11-13L/100km on the highway ... Aka 18 - 21 MPG... so sounds like itll be the same, or the AT4 might by marginally better.
