I have a 2021 and would love a HUD too. Some guys I know at the dealer say to go with a after market one. I just do not know which is the best if I go that way. From my research you need a harness from (Harnessdr.com) parts from whiteautoandmedia.co) and the dash parts from the dealer. Plus new windshield.

I thought the HUD needed special glass as it has reflective material in it to make the HUD show. When I had it in my G8 the glass people asked if I had a HUD or not. I like mine but turn signals would be nice.

HUD is a great feature.  Others have listed the reasons in posts above so I won't repeat them.  The windshield is specially made for the HUD and is more expensive if it has to be replaced.  I had the windshield in my 04 Corvette replaced when it was almost new and the windshield for it was almost $1000.00 at the time.  But then all damage is expensive on today's trucks and that's why we have insurance.

We all can debate is it worth doing,  the mighty cost of it will dive it in to yes or no column for many.  but does any know if it can be completed with the end user , by just buying the part an install them our selves?

We can change out our display,  which links to HUB but that is all I know.  Does any one else have any information?

I'm a little spoiled by my old 2014 BMW's HUD, so in comparison, Chevy's version IMO is severely lacking.  I had it in my '21 1500, left it off the '22 3500HD.

It's definitely something that can't be easily added. You first off have to have the ability in the onboard computer to operate it. Second you need a different dash as the top has a large opening with a screen for the camera/projector below it. And as was mentioned earlier you need the windshield made for this. I have been installing windshields for 35 years and you have to use a specific windshield for the HUD to work.

I have been putting together the part list, if your have a digital Cluster already and programmed for it,  I am some ware around the below:

$650-700 for the projector, cables, frame and switch

$700-$800 for dashboard from a take off Ebay need to find one cheaper.

???? windshield,  there may be a work around with film overlay placement.

I just finished upgrading my Cluster to the LTZ/High country,  found a take off for $200, sent it out to be programmed $200, for $50 more they will add other options and include the HUD programming as well so my cluster is preprogrammed for it.

The mirror camera upgrade is next, after that I might slowly start getting the parts for the HUD.

Need to find better pricing on the parts.

I'm not sure about a special windshield, as I just had my 22 3500HD's windshield tinted and the HUD actually shows up a little better I think because of it.
