Audio upgrade update.
I ordered the subwoofer with the separate amp for the door speakers.
I figured since I'm doing this I might as well make it LOUD.
Got my door speakers in two days from Crutchfield. I want to give them five stars . Lightning fast free delivery . ( Unheard of this month).
Free wiring adapters and mounting brackets. Pretty good deal I think.
Now I forgot to get some sound deadening for the door speakers so I am on the hunt for that now. The subwoofer should be here in a couple days.
I talked a buddy into letting me use his heated shop for the install probably the week between Christmas and new years. Hopefully I can knock this out in a day.42a31f3386ab2112cfdec704f95a55d7.jpg

Another audio upgrade update...
I ordered a pair of dash speakers also. I decided they may be a weak link so they are gone too.
Not a lot of choices because they are an oddball size (2 3/4") so I settled on some Kenwood KFC X2C . They are best sellers at Crutchfield and they had good reviews so I ordered them.
I also ordered some sound deadening.
All of the sudden, this got out of hand.
I was going to just throw a powered subwoofer on it and call it a day. Now it's a major job I'm just hoping I can finish in a day. 921fa6d17205211ee471b8b03a40921d.jpg

Got the Longhorn Fab Shop traction bars installed today.

Pretty easy had to grind a bracket down a little.

They work as advertised. It's a whole new feel, solid as a rock.

They look good too.672ff503278bdc20d5839f4efb1ccbab.jpg2d7d1f0cea48538796facaaf6091ffcf.jpg

Rear Wheel spacers are here.
Stahl 1" steel ( not aluminum like Bora)
Bora and Stahl Spacers are made by the same outfit,
Motorsports Tech.
These are stout. They are not breaking. 10.9 bolts. The machining is precision.
I'm glad I got these instead of the aluminum BORA spacers.
So now I have to get them installed and it's snowing again.
I'll probably put them on when I install the subwoofer and all the speakers in my buddy's shop.be42f8ba3555f4b23409aaf95f544309.jpg

Spacers installed.

Before and after pictures.

I hate winter BTW.

I can back my truck in the garage as far as the back of the cab and pin up a couple blankets and crank up the heat it's not too bad .

I'll take some pics when I go to the carwash later. It closes at 10. I found that if I go there at 9:45 I have the place to myself, it's about 55°-60° and I can stay as long as I want. Doors locked going in but not out.

The bs I have to put with in the winter to have a clean truck.

Tommorow I have to take the wheels back off and retorque the spacers then they are permanent.

My buddy with the nice heated shop has the covid. So I won't be able to use his shop for at least a few weeks. So I made my own heated garage. We used to do this all the time on job sites so they could pour concrete.
It's about 25° outside but under the plastic it's around 60°-65°. Good enough.
I'll be out here all night . Hopefully rockin by midnight5524bfce9444760cd988a65853301a43.jpg07b74d18f3dfc3b59df47f9daf6cd295.jpg

Sometimes you just gotta improvise. My first house had a door that was only 8 ft wide by about 74” tall. I could only pull in up to the truck doors or back in to the cab. When I bought my current house my priority was a nice garage.

Morning Jim:

Love your garage extension.

Does the wider track width have a practical or engineering principal or is it purely aesthetics?

Thanks,

I got the Kicker subwoofer and the new speakers installed this weekend.
GM Kicker setup with 200 watt amp for the sub and 200 watt amp for the door speakers. Kicker CS series 6"x9" and 6.75" door speakers.
Kenwood Excelon 2.75" dash speakers.
Hushmat and wave breaker sound deadening was used.
Sounds pretty good. Not earth shattering but way better than a GM bose setup in a Denali or High Country. It was a good little project to start the new year.e873c2103f05f8ee6712d04fe6af49b8.jpg914569ba40f00f2ca7f54243cf5db8cb.jpgc1a3a42d8e58a7f9ec2a2fbefa24c426.jpg
