trans slip and no acceloration

Well cruising in my 2015 gmc1500 slt (5.3 with 6 speed) on the interstate today my truck went to accelerate and i felt it downshift and not go anywyere.  rpms stayed at about 3000.  I let off and it would cruise and slowly accelerate fine.  This is the converter im taking it.  Im out of warranty so this will be on me.  What else should be changed with the converter when i pull the trans.  I will take it to a friend of mine that is great with these to see if it needs a rebuild.  Ive read where a fluid pump slide, pump housing, pump cover kit, and pump rotor kit.  Also are people going with the stock converter?  Ive read where some use a ctsv converter. Are yall still pulling with these?  Im not wanting to have to get into trans slippage tuning etc after so looking for a replacement.

That doesn't sound like the torque converter is the problem.  Sounds more like something is causing a problem with the engine, as it didn't speed up with the downshift.

 

I would suggest more diagnosis before throwing parts at the truck.

Don't buy an OEM converter. Look to a torque converter specialist like Circle D if you have to pay out of pocket anyway.
