High Revs

So tonight I was going to floor it while coming going down the road and just then someone pulled out in front of me.  The engine reved high like it down shifted, but even with the foot off the gas the engine slowly reved down, almost like it was in N.  Tried it again and  the Same thing.   
 

I am wondering if anyone else’s does this?

If you had already pressed the pedal all the way down or mostly for that matter, it can attempt a downshift and then if you let off the throttle at basically the same time it will hold that gear for longer than normal.

 

It's easier on the transmission if it does that because it's possibly thinking you are going to get right back on the throttle. Instead of downshifting, upshifting and downshifting again all in a matter of seconds. It's not exactly specific to the 2019-2020 trucks as I've noticed this is trucks back to the 2007+ when drive by wire throttle was on everything and transmissions had separate control modules.
