Help with resetting long term fuel trim

Hey thanks James, I did get a direct tune by  Black Bear and I also just switched the cap out but it’s a black top Delco. They’re not very expensive though, do you think the yellow cap has a better seal? I can certainly try.
I will edit my signature right now....

Everything I’ve read has said my tune wouldn’t be the cause of a lean condition. Am I wrong?

Yes.  A tune can cause a lean condition, as the tune sets how much fuel to use under a variety conditions.

So Justin sat in your truck while you drove around?  If so, I reckon then that he knows yours has the smaller injectors.  One time we were attempting to tweak my tune (over the internet) and it turned out a little lean so I put it back to the previous setup.

Yeah it was Justin. I waited til they made a trip to ATL and met him then. He actually noticed and pointed out that I had the 6 liter injectors. ( I bought second hand with 100,000 miles) I’m going to change my injectors out and will get back with him as the next step if need be. Once again, all the input is much appreciated.

There are 3 part numbers or different injectors used on the various Gen IV 6.0 motors.

The L76 uses 12580681 which is rated for 30 lbs/hr.  Same injector used in L92, LY6 and LH6 and LH8.

The LY6 also used the 12587269 which is rated for 40 lbs/hr.

The L96 uses the 12613412 which is rated for 50 lbs/hr.

Now what is unusual to me, your original injectors are 1.9 inches tall and those others would not fit, or are not supposed to fit, without adapters.  They are 1.87 and 1.73 inches, respectively.

Scratch all that!  I must have a mistake on my spreadsheet.  The LY5 uses the same 30 pound injector as all the other non-FlexFuel engines, including the 6.0s and 6.2s.  They are 1.87 inches in length and have part number 12580861 or 12510681 and are rated for 30 pounds an hour at 58 psi.  So, having said all of that, they are very likely stock.  Justin will forget more than most of us will ever know about these things.

Well, get your Tech-2 or equivalent and let us know how it went.

Well the injectors did the trick. Brought my averages on both banks down to +1-+3 at idle. Still a little high while under load but manageable and not setting DTC’s (average about +12). I would understand the lean under load as part of my tune and will talk to Justin about helping me tweak the tune.
The wealth of information has been a huge help. Grew up changing my own parts cause I couldn’t afford trips to the shop. Make a long story short, just trying to teach myself and get by. Thanks again.

Which injectors did you go with?

I had to get the cheapees. The idea is to be able to drive everyday while (it will take me at least a couple weeks to get my originals cleaned well and tested before new O-Rings for back-ups in case of a problem.

I hate putting these in there, first time I haven’t used oem on my truck but had to do it even if just temporarily.

Are they Dorman or something?  Just curious, don't know what's out there as I'm wired for OEM.
