Anyone else want to jump on the bashing my truck bandwagon, feel free.

I wouldn't say one guy being observant enough to notice the different wheel is bashing.

Touched a nerve I guess. Was simply trying to illustrate the massive transformation it has been through, but the only comments seem to be on how ugly it was before. I’m well aware lol. Sorry for my curt reply.

Anyone else want to jump on the bashing my truck bandwagon, feel free. Hit a pothole and cracked the inside of the rear wheel it was a cheap fix knowing I was getting a new set of wheels. Dealer had that one laying around. I didn’t even notice to be honest. I was simply trying to give an idea of the transformation that the truck has been through which I thought was quite good but no one can focus on what it looks like now.

Calm down, man. I just thought it was an example of poor quality control....reminded me of a local dealership years ago that had a K5 Blazer on one side and a Jimmy on the other. Your truck looks good!

My apologies.

Hi all,  I am new to this forum, but have been perusing for a few months. Purchased a 2020 GMC Sierra Elevation Diesel (absolutely love it) in January and had the factory GM 2" lift installed 2 weeks ago at the dealer.  I would have typically installed this myself, but wanted to have the dealer responsible for any install issues.  First thing I noticed was that the steering wheel was off center a few degrees and there is a dull creaking/clunk on the front driver's side when hitting small bumps. I don't think it is a metal on metal sound.  Now, I noticed that the front passenger side is about 1" lower than the driver's side. I am a bit peeved.  I have an appointment for this Friday for them to try to fix it. I'd like to give them some specific direction on what is going on and what to look for after. Does anyone have any advice for me on what the problems could be?  I am hoping they can fix it right this time.  Thanks in advance!

You remove the 3 torque screws on the front side of the mudflap, then remove a 10 mm bolt on the back side.  The mudflap can then be pulled away from the truck body and pushed towards the engine bay.  There will be another torque screw holding the carpet wheel liner to the bracket, remove this and pull the wheel liner up and away as much as you can.  This will give you access to the bracket behind it.  The bracket has 4 bolts that have 13 or 14 mm heads.  Remove those and the bracket comes off.  Then put everything back in reverse order.  The final step is to drill a small hole on the back side of the carpeted wheel liner near where it attaches to the rear front mudflap and insert and zip tie it into that new hole and an existing hole on the body near it to pull the flap back.  Do not drill thru the mudflap, just the carpet.  Repeat for the other side.  The whole process took me about 30-45 total for both side and I wasnt in a rush lol.

Thanks for this post dude. I did the Readylift 2" under strut level and put some 285/75R17s on some Rotiforms and was having the reverse rub with very minor turning. Stuff like this keeps forums relevant. Nice wheels too, not many people do anything creative outside of all the cliche hostile and fuel stuff.

@cseaman glad you found it helpful, full disclosure I someone else wrote that post up but I had to do some digging to find it. Did you go with the 6OR rotiform wheels? I had those on my last truck and almost bought them again. Post some pictures when you get a chance!

Yessir. I have two other Audis competing for my mod budget so I couldn't justify anything forged on the truck, but it's nice knowing I'll never see a twin in this thing.

    • Hi all - my current truck is a 2022.5 1500 High Country 3.0. I bought the truck used last year. After doing some digging, I noticed that my truck's software is stuck on the original build from 2022. I have no available software updates. I talked to my dealer about this and they recommended not trying to force an update since the 36,000 mile warranty is expired. This is a big bummer since there have been many major releases since that have fixed small issues and improved speed/usability.   For reference, the current software build number is: full_gminfo37_gb-user 10 W158E-W164.4.2-QIH22B-563.3 158 release-keys Has anyone had a similar experience? Should I just forget about it and move on, or try a different dealer?
    • Sure. Buy it for me 🤣
    • Using zip ties but 2-3 they snap due to sharp edges. Just using a shoestring. Last longer. 🤣
    • I ordered the Snap On...waiting for it to come in later this week or early next week.   New front cover, new crank seal and new balancer are on. Water pump, pulley, fan, hoses, and plastics reinstalled. I can move forward knowing all my timing marks are dead on and the front engine is hopefully sealed better than it was. Take 2 with the water pump...trying high temp thread sealer on the lower bolts.   Rebuilt injector and new-new regulator is in, it looks like new. Top intake reassembled and all the bits are reconnected and snugged down.   Thinking about knock sensors again, I located both of mine and, there's your problem, Francis... The driver's side one is broke, plastic is bashed in, part of the wire is bare, and it appears to have been damaged like that for a long time. I saw the wire but didn't think anything of it. The knock sensor might not be my pulled timing issue, but it sure looks suspect. It must still be conducting, otherwise I'd expect a CEL. But perhaps with its sacred crystal inside exposed, jilted and dirty, maybe it's sending mixed signals. So I'm waiting for one of those and a new pigtail to come in. Pass side sensor looks good, except for the spark plug wire resting on it (!). The plug wires are healthy so it shouldn't be causing an issue, but I separated them and added zip ties to nearby looms to keep everything well apart.   So, I'm down to installing a knock sensor AND, oh, replacing the exhaust and cat. I actually think that's going to be fairly easy, it's all bolt-together, all new stuff from Walker is laid out on the shop floor ready to go. Hopefully have this thing on the road again for the weekend.   My luck? It will still be leaking oil, coolant, pulled timing, intermittent CEL for running rich, or it probably won't run at all -- because that's how this project has gone.   I've never worked on a vehicle so ...hurt? ...cursed? in my life. Everything has been effed with SO HARD, but I think...knock on wood...I've managed to undo all the backyard stuff and we're almost reset back to "just" an 80k mile, 30 year old Blazer.
