I am trying to remove my antenna mast 2014 silverado  to put a stubby on so I don’t have take it off every time I put the new cover on it. I used a 3/8th box end wrench but it doesn’t want to loosen and I don’t want to brake it and have to replace the antenna base. Does anyone have tricks to remove it ? Thanks

Mine was rusted/corroded on pretty good when i first took mine out but it came out working on it slowly back and forth.

I think there is lock-tide on the threads since mine had this blue residue in it once i removed it.

warm the female thread portion of the antenna with a propane torch then loosen it before it cools down. Heat expands metal, allowing for less contact with the male threads making it easier to turn.

I literally just swapped mine last night.  The stock one came off tougher than I expected, but I was able to remove it.  I do believe there is some sort of thread locker on there, heat should help.

Was going to swap mine with a stubby last night, until I sheared the antenna off.. ? Time to break out the screw extractor kit and if all else fails, a new antenna base will be on order. Heat didn't help, mine was corroded pretty good from all the salt MN uses...

I have a 2016 Silverado and from what I have read you have to remove the entire cable and base mount.  I put a wrench on mine and it will spin for days, but it will not unthread.

Somethings gone wrong w your antennae.  Normally, the stud is fixed in place, and the antennae just unscrews from it.  It's does that on both my '04 and my '12.

You probably will have to replace your cable, as if the stud is spinning, it probably has become detached from the inner wire running to the radio.  If you have the wire tools and can find a replacement end, you may be able to cut off a short piece off the end and then attach a new end to it.
