Trail Boss tire options

I’m looking for options on a less aggressive tire, smoother and better mileage, but that fills out the wheel wells at least as well as stock.

Has anybody played the game of finding comparable tires and sizes?

Issue is any bigger any you have to go LT tire as well so it’s hard. The BFGs have off-road capabilities with some nice road manners. But still AT tires so it will be semi agreesive

I’m wondering what size Bridgestone Revo would give me the same diameter. I’ve had really good luck with Revos.

Go with factory size 275/65r18 all terrain tires, just make sure they are Standard or XL load.  Once you get into the D and E load tires your ride and mileage will suffer.  I'd recommend Cooper AT3 tires, they are less aggressive for a smoother ride, and last forever.

That’s a great recommendation. Love the look of it.

I thought OEM size will be the diameter at the bottom of the tread, meaning I’d want a taller tire to fill up the wheel well.

Michelin makes the Defender LTX in that size too if I'm not mistaken. They are a good all around tire as well.

Even check out the Bridgestone Dueler RHS, that is a newer tire as well.

I’ve had a lot of Defenders but that seems a little tame for the Trail Boss.

Well you asked for less aggressive, smoother and better gas mileage, so those are some of the best on the market to get you just that.

Something has to be sacrificed if you still want it to look "cool".

The LTX is the best street tire with some off road chops..I Agree but again anything more you will have a true AT tire...good call here

The problem is if you go with a taller tire like 275/70r18, you will have to get a heavier E load LT tire, which will hurt your mileage and comfort.  But yes if you want to go to a taller size the 70 sidewall will be what you want.
