Rotors and Pads

Own a 2016 Sierra SLT, with 73k on the clock.

I'm still on original rotor and pads.

I would like to be proactive and replace front and back. Currently no issues.

Where do I shop for the best bang for the bucks?

At 107K on my 2015 and still on the original set with tons to spare. Your rotors look good and you look to have plenty of pad for now. Service the slides, power bleed it and Keep going!

Honestly, with this sort of life why would I look at anything but the OEM parts? IF they cost three times as much and last five times longer I'm ahead....right?

We put PowerStop on the wife's Terrain when the OEM gave up at 75K. They were half the cost and have had them done again twice since then. Now at 112K. Both times warranty covered but it gets the OEM on then next hiccup.

Those pads have buckets of life left in them.  For whatever reason, the pads GM puts on new vehicles seem to last a long time, and new replacements (either oem or third party) don't last as long.

Buy new pads, and I would suggest the rubber boots for the caliper pins, and some good disc brake grease for lubing those pins, to be ready for doing the job, but don't throw away money by changing pads already.  There's easily 40k left in those pads.

Dave there are three lines of AC Delco parts, right? AC Delco Advantage (good) and AC Delco Professional (better) and AC Delco GM Original Equipment (Best, what was installed on the assembly line)?

How is one assured that they are indeed getting the Original Equipment line?

Okay I'm sold I will get new pads only and service the slider piece.

Pushing back the piston on the caliper is just a matter of using a C clamp right???

Yep. I use the old pad to place against the piston and then use the c clamp. Works every time.

OEM, Akebono, Napa and Wagner OEX are all good options. With a decent amount of pad left I would just change the boots, abutment clips and lube the slides. Make sure the pads move freely in the bracket. You'll probably get another 30k on your brakes without issue.

I had my brakes done at the dealer thinking they would be oem brakes.

first time in my life I have enough money to just say screw it and drop my truck off at the dealer and pay $1k for brakes and bleed even though I can do it myself in 2 hours no problem.

What do I get

shit ac delco brakes and brake squeel from what I’m pretty sure is due to lazy installation

diy OEM all the way

Oh, you haven't heard? I'm up to 62 mph now!!

(100 kph)

Brakes don't wear out from the speed of the drive but from the speed of the stop.

:)

Well....and you have to use them.
