Horn randomly blows

Our 1997 Chevy Silverado randomly at 1 am started bowing the horn on and off sometimes for seconds and sometimes just a quick honk. We ended up unplugging it under hood. Anyone else experience this and what was the cure? Thanks

I wonder if the wire underneath horn button in steering wheel is frayed?

It could be a worn out clock spring.

It might also be a problem with your remotes if it has that option.  If you do have remotes, you could try removing the battery from them to see if it makes a difference...
