Oil plug

Just finished my third oil change and noticed the rubber oil plug gasket came off. Luckily I noticed and it stuck to the pan. I've never had an auto where the plug gasket was seperate. Atv's yes. So do I buy extra rubber gaskets to have on hand or is there a replacement plug with it built in like they used to be? My 2013 had 130k with original plug!

Keep a spare plug and spare gasket in inventory.

 

That way neither will ever be required. 

Especially now that you are aware that sometimes the gasket can stick to pan.

 

Some engines have metal washers that 'stick' as well.  It's not unique to this GM engine.

12616850 is the seal if you need more.  

 

The old plug, the seal sticks too.  Happens on the 2014-2019 old body even though they use the same exact drain plug as 2007-2013.

Looks like a knock-off of the fumoto valve.

I thought so to but I do like the nickel plating.

I have the Fumoto valve on my 2002. I put it on just after I got it in 2001 and it is great.  I got one for the 2019 and waiting to install it next oil change.  Can't put one on my 2012 Cruze since it is on the bottom of the oil pan and it can get damaged if something comes underneath the vehicle.   I also installed one on our 2016 Suburban.
