Why cant you add additional subs to a Bose System?

I went to a shop a while back last year and was looking at adding my subs from my last truck in this truck under the back seat. but was told that wasnt recommended with the Bose System.

If im going to run a separate amp for them, and not mess with the head unit or the existing system, what is the downside?

I mean in my last truck, we tapped into the back door speaker wiring, ran that to the amp and worked with the subs from that amp on..

You need a dsp to de equalize the factory radio signal. It attenuates the bass past half volume. Also it wouldn't hurt to boost and clean up the sig as well

i believe i may have that from the last install, since it was all done by a shop, ill have to see what i still have. But with the DSP or anything else i need, is there still any reason why it shouldnt be done?

Just curious why i was told that it wasnt recommended.. I just want to add a little more thump to the Bose System without having to mod alot of replace anything, just looking to add 2 more subs that run on their own power and amp.

Well not all dsp are created equal.  Lol. Which one do you have?

Im all about bass here so i know the feeling.? btw youll likely need a good agm batt if you dont already have one. Other then the dsp and batt theres not a real reason. Unless you dont want bass ?

its been a few years so not sure what i have or if i still have it, but i remember a few small components that were removed from the last truck that were meant for the subs. If not then ill be shopping around for one and battery, dont have one, so that for sure will need to be researched and bought..

Northstar or Xs battery. Next Step would be kinetic. Otherwise you may have an loc and not a DSP if you have a loc. That will not do. All that will do is boost the signal and take all of the Distortion with it.

so was doing a little window shopping on crutchfield and noticed this message once i selected my truck

Your vehicle is equipped with an active noise cancellation system. When you add an aftermarket amplifier, processor, or subwoofer, you'll need to disable that system.

i literally dont want to mess with anything factory wise. I merely want to add 2 subs, maybe 4 if i cant fit my 10's under the backseat safely

Your in for a long road if you don't want to alter the factory stuff. Might want to find another shop to install for you. There's alterations needed. Either you buy a wiring harness to connect or hard wire. I do remember a thread about bose and mics I found last year. I'll see if I can find it. Trying to connect to the rear speakers leaves meh results. Playing through an aux cord and YouTube boost the volume output to the amps.

when you say wiring harness you are referring to the one that ive read others mention that is a factory plug in, that would provide clean connections and additional wires to run off of? Or you another harness all together?

Because i ran across this thread here about a harness(7 pin)

Was speaking of the one at the end of that thread. Be warned the last member who bought one waited 5 weeks and they have zero tech support. That being said iirc pac makes one tht will suite your needs better iirc. So harness, dsp, batt, misc. Looking at approx 6- 1k dollar range. Still want bass lol. It gets expensive.  The dsp im picking up after this virus crap is the jlx86. Then later the Twerk to balance things way I'd like.

ha, ive had Bass in all my cars since Highschool and that wont change, since harvey when i lost my last truck its been put on hold for awhile, but now with this stay at home going on, looking for projects i can do while at home.

The cost isnt really a show stopper for me :) like i said i was on crutchfield earlier and my cart was already at $1300 and thats without the battery or dsp.

So we will see what i end up with.

Yeah its really the best option when installing an amp. That gets you places a simple wiring harness won't. That then dsp then amps

Then " Trunk go Bang" Haa[emoji106]
