Active shutters

Question reguarding these. When do they open. Here it’s winter coming on to spring. I park in a heated building. Every time I’ve looked the shutters are always closed. Are they temp activated? Will they open in the summer?

Thx

They open and close as needed by the truck. Heated garage might not be heated enough for the computer. I know on my F150 work truck they’ll be semi closed on 60° plus days. They’ll be wide open on hot days.

Believe it may have been mentioned in another thread that they're for aerodynamics, rather than temperature. If that's true, seems that they'd only open at highway speeds.

They are, most likely, used for both. Just like with the fords.

My 2014 Cruze diesel has these. They never open when the ambient air temp is below 50 degrees. I've seen coolant temps above 230 when it's 10 degrees out pulling the Eisenhower tunnel. If it's above 50, they open when the coolant temp reaches 219 and close around 205. This is all at highway speeds. I hope my Silverado is not the same.

That’s probably the temps that Cruze engine is designed to run at. I wouldn’t worry about the Silverado.
