Just seeing what types of trailering people are doing with the new turbo engine!

Have any performance issues?

Looks like it's just groceries.

Flatbed Trailer full of scrap wire and metal, same trailer with several large job boxes full of stuff, my buddies side by side and my snowmobiles up through the mountains. I even got to tow one of our other trucks and it being a ford made it much more fun.

It has done a great job at all of it. I like it better than my 2011 with a 5.3 for the most part. I am still not a fan of the sound of the motor but thats about it.

Pulled a 6x10 Carry-On trailer with 800lbs of building materials. Was amazed at the torque of the 2.7 turbo. Previously owned a 2017 LT with 5.3. I can say the 2.7 pulled effortlessly with smooth shifts and never felt labored. With the 5.3 and relatively same hauling, it reved higher rpms to produce the torque while sucking the fuel. The shifting was rough and radical. The 2.7 mpg went from 22 to 17 mpg during l haul.  The 5.3 went from about 19 to 12 mpg. For a homeowner this is the perfect truck. For commercial or maximum hauling, you’d want the 5.3 or 6.2. The sound is not desirable, but the performance and economy sure is.

I'm sorry but to me the Turbo is a gimmick engine to get the people scared of fuel millage to buy a truck.  If you need to tow it's V8 or the diesel.

We should also all get 3500 dually's.

Hey Sharkman,

Have you driven a 2.7 Turbo? Are you a light use homeowner or commercial user?

The 2.7 turbo has an intended target of hauling 7000 lbs with efficiency and plenty of torque at 1500-2000 rpm.

Not everyone needs to haul 12000 lbs.

If I did, I’d need a V8 to get the job done.

The 2.7 turbo is not a gemic engine. I bet if you drove one you’d be impressed. It’s quite an engineering marvel. I have a history of V8s and Ecoboost. I am impressed with the 2.7 turbo. It’s smooth delivery of torque and economy is amazing mated to the great 8 speed. No rough banging shifts associated to the V8 I’ve owned.

This engine transmission combo is right for me and thousands of light use homeowners.  Maybe not you?

just take a look to the left.  I have a 2.7 and love it!  ( I was being sarcastic about the dually) when i bought mine i got about 30% off the sticker price.  That's why i bought mine.  I took a chance on the new engine, but so far so good.

I use mine every weekend to head to the mountains and haul anything you could think of include a small utility trailer.

I get the best mileage 26-27 mpg  running 55 mph.

Mine was 30% below MSRP with the discounts and rebates near end of December when they wanted to push them out. Got a great trade in for my 2017 LT. Did my research and negotiations for over a year. Was leaning towards 2019 Ram but recalls and consumer reviews sent me running.

if your truck is not doing big payloads or towing the 2.7 is a nice motor. I drove one and down low grunt was just as powerful as the 5.3. Its nice we have different options .

the 2.7 actually has the highest payload of all engine options if I remember right. I test drove one and liked it but I was worried on resale value and went for the 5.3 instead, also the turbo/blow off valve sounds were cool
